Happy Holidays!

What are your plans for the holidays? I want to thank you so much for being here, whether you’ve been reading for years or just stopped by. I’m so grateful for this incredible community of smart, funny, thoughtful women, and we love your comments so, so much. Our family is visiting relatives in California — and posting photos on Instagram — but in the meantime, here’s a look back on the past year, if you’d like to see…

Style posts, including weeks of outfits of Suhkie, Hana and Jenny (and Anton!) — and what Cup of Jo readers wear to work. Also, Kelsey listed her favorite size-inclusive brands and I shared the eight everyday clothes I wear all the time.

Beauty posts, including the $18 hair tool Caroline swears by, the make up I wear every day, and three friends sharing natural hair tips. Also, our beauty uniform series, like the hilarious Michelle Buteau, my sweet aunt Lulu and the inspiring Lindy West.

Food posts, including our favorite strawberry cake, 9 easy family dinners, Nora Ephron’s go-to tomato sauce, dinner-changing magic of candlesticks and an old-school photo birthday cake. Plus, deciding to quit drinking, Jenny’s burning questions column and a boxed brownie taste test.

Travel posts, such as how to take a romantic trip (without kids), a Chicago city guide, my vacation packing list, 14 reader comments about travel, and five fun ideas for family vacations.

Home posts, including my grandmother’s home in Cornwall, a colorful Brooklyn apartment, a family’s downsized house in Sacramento, a Manhattan jewel box apartment, a maximalist Minnesota house and Caroline’s dramatic apartment.

Relationships posts, like an amazing restaurant surprise, five words that will change your relationship, 12 wedding dos and don’ts, a funny challenge of moving in together, a bookstore marriage proposal, 12 questions to ask your significant other at dinner, not-so strangers and how to be a great aunt.

Culture posts, including six amazing podcasts, five fantastic books, book covers in the U.S. vs the U.K., an interview with the Fleabag costume designer, our new favorite TV show, couples with the best on-screen chemistry and an argument for binge-reading.

Friendship posts, including soup group, 11 reader comments on friendship, how to be a better listener, a funny question game to play with friends and how to help a friend facing infertility.

Parenting posts, including choosing not to have kids, a dying mother’s letter to her daughters, advice for new parents, four games to play while lying down, funny dad texts, how to navigate a special needs encounter, hilarious passive-aggressive notes from my boys, complicated mother/daughter relationships and the best of parenting around the world. Kelsey also wrote about how she’d thought she’d accepted her body until she got pregnant.

Thank you again for reading! We’ll be back with new posts on January 6th. Have a wonderful holiday. We love you. xoxo

Hey Jo and team – happy holidays! Long time Australian reader here. You have a lot of Australian readers and we are currently facing an unprecedented natural disaster in the form of bushfires that have burnt their way through millions of hectares of land. It would be amazing to see a post on it to draw some international attention, perhaps with a link to donations to our Rural Fire Service (who have been fighting the blazes and are volunteers!!!) or Australian Red Cross. Would be a great use of your significant public influence! Thanks in advance :-)

    • Em Dearing says...

Alice it’s just so awful!! Those brave people and our wildlife *weep*. Millions and millions of hectares up in smoke. I won’t get started on our PM. Hope you’re safe.

Thank you for another year of delightful and thoughtful content and community. Just a side note to say I appreciate how you compiled articles just about friendship! Such a simple thing, but as a single woman for most of my life, my friends have always been my primary relationships, and it feels so nice to have the topic recognized at COJ regularly. I’m allll for a good romance read, but that’s just one type of relationship. Thanks for acknowledging the many ways we learn from, connect, and love one another.

Warmest holiday wishes to the amazing COJ team!

  28. M says...

Have a wonderful Christmas Team CoJ! I’m currently on a self-imposed internet / media blackout for my mental health (I’m British and it’s all just TOO MUCH), but you guys sneak through as you’re always such a smart and warm little corner of the internet; I love everything you post! Thank you!

  29. R says...
