Alex and I celebrated our seventh anniversary on Sunday. We took a long bike ride up the Hudson River and then went to Kiki’s for Greek food. Now — after 9 1/2 years together, 7 years of marriage and 2 rowdy children — I figured I’d look back. Here are a few photos, if you’d like to see…
On our very first date, we went to see The Lives of Others and then out to dinner at Cafe Cluny. We were both really nervous, until halfway through dinner when I put my hand on his arm and he smiled and we realized it was ON.
After a year and a half of dating, Alex moved into my apartment, and during an uncharacteristically crafty moment, I made this “I love my roommate” T-shirt with fabric paint and stencils.
On a weekend trip to Pennsylvania.
Then, seven years ago, we got hitched.
We went on a honeymoon and brought home a little souvenir…
And nine months later…
We took a cab to the hospital…
…to meet this little bunny!
Visiting my grandparents in England.
Our first weekend trip without the baby.
And sitting on the dock of our friend’s cabin, after Toby fell asleep.
A few years later, we told Toby he was going to have…
Our first Christmas tree.
At a wedding in New Hampshire.
And on a family trip to Portland.
Plus, a big birthday party for Alex.
Happy anniversary, Alex. I love you so much.
(Also, I just realized you wear a blue button down 99% of the time.)
P.S. A surprising marriage tip.
