By the lovely Grace Farris.
P.S. Simple pleasures and favorite times of day.
I always love Grace‘s illustrations so much! They make me feel seen and they make me smile. I especially loved the one with the lamp here- this is so me, I wish someone would say this to me! I always try so much to avoid turning on the overhead lights, and noone in my family seems to care, haha.
I also avoid turning on the overhead light as much as possible :)
I am so, so, so tired, friends. It feels like it never stops and I’m not keeping up with the pace.
Big hug Savannah. May you be happy, may you be safe, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.
I hear you and I see you <3 That feeling is so so hard. If there is anything you can delegate – do it! If you can steal a moment of rest (a tea break, a breath or two alone) – do it! You are in the thick of it right now, there are better days ahead
In case no one mentioned it:
I look forward to your comics on Fridays.
Your words make me smile and feel seen.
I love looking for Easter eggs in your illustrations – my favorite was the crash landing on you reference that changed my Netflix life – kdramas are the best!
Really, really well said, Morgan!
Same for me too! Thank you Grace & Jo & your entire team 💗
For several weeks now, I have been unable to view the entirety of Grace’s artwork. Doesn’t matter whether my phone is portrait or landscape, the left-hand side is cut off. Has anything changed in how these pieces of wisdom are uploaded? Thank you for helping me!
Same here 😕
Same. For me it works if I reload the page.
Same!
Not sure if this is what fixed the left side from being cut off. With my fingers, I zoomed the iphone screen in and out a few times. The left side appears, no more cut off.
Thank you for another wonderful post, Grace
Always switching on a lamp instead of the overhead lights, so true!!
Yes! Nothing better than to make everything seem warm and charming.
I love cozy lamps as much as any next person and I adore the hygge vibes and all ,but we need to stop dissing the overheads so much
When I really want to get a real task done like threading a needle or making a real paper pencil to do list ,cant help but turn the overheads on
Its like when you can’t find directions if music is too loud in the car haha
Yep. I cannot embroider by lamp light, unless I’m at my parents’ house and the lamp with the three way bulb is all the way up. At my house, it’s overheads all the way.
Former lighting design professional, here. Please stop disparaging overhead lights. They’re not bad, just misunderstood. They probably need a different type of bulb, and a dimmer. XOXO
Ha! When building our house, I had to go through the lighting plan and add so many overhead lights! Like, yes, in the evening, I want all the scones with the all dimmers, but when I’m trying to clean house and sweep the floors on a dreary Saturday morning, I just want to be able to turn the *lights on*!
*sconces. Although I do want all the scones too, haha.
True that!!!
At night, we try and refrain from turning on overhead lights. Evening lighting is cozy lights only!
Never turn on the overheads!
What serendipity! I’m using Duolingo to pick-up where I left off in my college French studies. One of the vocab words coming up now is lieu. To remember that it means place, I keep thinking about how we use it in English too! And then here it is! Tres interessant!
Aw. I love this one.
I know this is not the post’s intention, but I’m purchasing a bedside table lamp today so my husband can stop waking me up with the overhead light…
These are a Glimmer each week 😊
Your work is lovely and thoughtful, Grace Farris.
Needed this today!
Though I totally misread one of the sentences as “You are a genius sandwich!” Which made me laugh. Let’s all be genius sandwiches, whatever that means!
Jo F, your comment was a revelation! Yes we are genius sandwiches! Unique and layered, sometimes messy, sometimes tucked into a warm dinner roll. Have a great weekend and thanks for the fun insight!
Lol ,not the same …in fact ,the exact opposite but makes me laugh every time
@Erin Geiger Smith i love you comment. What awesome way to relate to a sandwich
