What Are You Going to Be for Halloween?

My favorite movies growing up were Matilda, Totoro, Wizard of Oz, A Little Princess, and The Princess Bride.

I found a beautiful bronze satin dress at a vintage store that fit perfectly, so I’m sewing leaves to it, made a crown from a pinecone garland, and I’m going as Autumn. I always like to feel like a princess on Halloween, even though I’m 28.

Great question! Last year was our first Halloween with kids (we’re in the process of adopting our two from the foster care system), and so we wanted to really use it as a chance to bond, so we all dressed up as super heroes (The Flash, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Superman and we dressed our dog up as Krypto). So fun. This year, our kids have decided to go as a Fairy and as a Power Ranger, so my husband and I have decided to dress us (and our dog) up as a take on last year’s SNL “David S. Pumpkins” sketch and he and I are being the skeletons and I am sewing our dog a tiny David S. Pumpkins suit. We’re nerds. I’m excited.

My team at work and I are going as the Magic School Bus crew! We work in HIV prevention, so someone is going to be a Truvada pill and we’ll follow it throughout the body systems. I’m going to be Miss Frizzle and decorate my dress with images of organs and body parts.

Last year my oldest (nearly 3 at the time) wanted us to go as owls ? which we obliged. I imagine I will always remember that Halloween, because my oldest who has a speech delay said ‘trick or tweet’ for the first time, my one year-old choked on part of a wrapper and both kids had GI bugs and vomited all night ?

This year we’re going as a family of bats ? and hopefully avaoiding the GI bug. The period were our kids adore us and want us to be part of their costume is so short lived… so we’ve embraced it.

We are going be this for Halloween! The more I try to put the costume together though the more I realize it’s not going to look like this picture (my costume is purple, how am I going to get my 9 month old to keep that hat on?, and we are white!). Lol, but whatever. We’ll have fun!

I get very into Halloween and usually have multiple costumes for multiple parties, so this year I’m working on a Belle costume (from the most recent Emma Watson version) and an incredibles costume (I’m going to be elastigirl!).

In the past couple of years I’ve been Joy from Inside Out, Rey (a friend went as my BB8), and Ted Mosby as the hanging Chad from How I Met Your Mother. Sometime I really want to go as the house from Up, balloons and all.

I’ve never had a Halloween costume – preacher’s daughter in the Bible belt……we did alternative activities that did not honor “satan’s holiday”. I love Halloween as an adult though. And my parents now give out candy to trick-or-treaters (what????)

I was explaining how halloween works to my four year old. I said she can be something funny, or cute or scary, it’s up to her. She decided on scary but couldn’t name anything scary. I tried to prompt her by telling her to close her eyes and think of the scariest thing she knows. She closed them and then happily pronounced, “I know! An Earwig!” So guess who is making an earwig costume this weekend? They must have been all out of them at the store…

We live in Kentucky and my toddler is going to be a jockey, complete with a polka dotted jockey silk, bow tie, racing goggles, and stick horse!

My 5 year old son decided all on his own that he wants to be Santa Clause. We just got his costume and it’s the cutest, funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

These costumes are good. However, I love to get a costume of Jon snow for my nephew. He loves to be Jon Snow.

We’re doing a safari theme — My 10 month old is going to be a zebra, I’m going as a cheetah, and my husband is dressing up as the safari guide!

My 1 year old is going to be baby llama from Llama Llama Red Pajama. It’s his favorite book and all I have to do is stick him in red jammies!

The 2 year old wants to be Newt Scamander.

Anyone have a work-friendly maternity (9 months!) costume suggestion? I work at a hospital so I’m thinking pregnant nun isn’t appropriate (rats).

My husband is not wild about Halloween but he loves me so it all just means that I have to make his part of our costume fairly painless.
Here’s what we’re doing this year: I’m Dwight Shrute, my 3 yr old is a bear, my 4 month old is a beet, and my husband is Mose–I didn’t know how he could be Battlestar Galactica.? This way he just has to shave his mustache and wear overalls.

Shoot, I was hoping for some adult costume ideas (um, not “adult”, just grown up)!
I think my 4yo son will be going as a s’more, my 6yo daughter was just given a three-sizes-too-small Sophia the First costume from the neighbour kid that she’s adamant about wearing, and the 2yo is going to wear whatever hand-me-down costume I find that fits :D

It’s my 11 month old’s first Halloween so I’m getting in the spirit and going ALL OUT. We’re going as Game of Thrones characters: my husband will be Jon Snow, I’m going to be Daenerys (mother of dragons), and my daughter will be a little dragon. I don’t think I’ve been so excited about Halloween.

My truck obsessed almost 2 year old is going to be a digger. I’m making it with felt and it’s almost finished! I think it’s actually going to look pretty good!!
