My loves, how are you doing? I wanted to take a moment to check in. I’ve been waking up with my old friend anxiety gripping my chest, and I know many of you are feeling angst and fear and grief, alongside the ups and downs of everyday life. The world is a lot right now.
When I felt overwhelmed in my twenties, my friend Lina told me, “Give me your stress, give me your stress,” while her hands beckoned toward her, and that gesture felt so comforting. So, if you’d like, leave a comment and hand me your stress. I will gladly help hold it for you today.
And if you have little glimmers in your life right now — say, smelling spring flowers or eating a purple plum or spotting a tiny dog on the street — please share those, too.
Here are five questions, if you’d like to answer:
Something you’re looking forward to:
A worry that’s keeping you up at night:
Your current or childhood nickname:
A TV show you’re watching or book you’re reading:
Something you like about yourself, big or small:
As for what made me laugh, I love that 11-year-old Anton uses the slang “cheeks,” as in “My new haircut is cheeks” or “I did cheeks on my humanities quiz.” Just a great word, to use interchangeable with “buns” (also hilarious).
And, most important, my dear friend Linsey has set up a fundraiser for children and families in Gaza, so please consider joining us in donating, if you’re able. There’s also a silent auction with some great items (many more added daily) that are starting to feel like a grown-up talent show in the best way.
Talk to me, my loves. Sending the biggest hug, and thank you so much for reading.
