I’m Iranian, so spring is about celebrating the Persian New Year (Nowruz). It’s on the 20th of March this year, and I have already put my little haft-sin softeh out (a spread of seven things symbolizing renewal and rebirth that start with the letter S in Farsi). I have 3 painted eggs, 2 ceramic gold fish, a mirror, sumac, garlic, apple, coins, samanoo, senjed and plants. I have also started a major spring cleaning, which comes as double as we are expecting our baby girl in 3 months and we need to prepare the house for her.
spring makes me bake more and cook more generally . I also buy soap bars , jewellery and perfume . I’m realising this is how it’s been for yers now.
I’m new to summer camps and missed out on signing my son up for them because I didn’t realize it started so early!
Just here to say that I love March! ❤️
Summer camp sign-up haunted my Januarys for many a year. The good news is they do eventually age out of camp, but then drivers training starts lol.
Tulips- check!
Repeating the phrase “I smell spring!”-check!
Feeling a weird tickle in my throat again -check!
So lucky to be spending March on the Big Island- snorkeling, swimming , and yoga on the balcony! Woo hoo! #marriedwell
Anyone else checking all of the above??
Everything but Party Animal over here!
hahah, i just bought a bouquet of tulips his afternoon and thought, spring is so close! while doing so.
Here in Edinburgh we’ve had crocuses and snowdrops for a few weeks, and now the daffodils are starting to bloom. I am ready for spring!
4/4 IT ME! :)
Here in Vancouver we’ve got daffodils and cherry blossoms and snow today. I started signing up for camps at the end of January and the cycle of colds has been going since then but I LOVE every holiday you can make tiny paper crafts and a little tabletop tree for so I guess I’m finding balance!
Oh man, we’re all recovering patients in our house, February sickness hit HARD! Luckily I can do the summer planning from bed!
A brilliant mom friend set up an excel spreadsheet where you can share your summer camp agendas with the grade so everyone gets ideas and knows where the hot ticket is located.
This is genius!
Same here! Google sheet FTW!
That’s a really smart idea, but it’s also sometimes good to encourage kids to go to a camp where they don’t know anyone and meet some new friends. Especially in camps that are just a week—it’s a low commitment and learning to make new friends (and being aware that one can make friends outside of school) is an important life skill. You don’t always go into new things knowing someone.
She *will* buy a bouquet of tulips, haha. (This was before I realized the bucket isn’t watertight; the jokes write themselves, &c.)

Hope you’re feeling minty-fresh after a mellow week, Joanna!
I’m the weathervane. I’m so anxious for spring!!
I’m the one switching out all the grey and black clothing for a little cheerful color. And pausing to listen to the new bird voices around town.
Haha me too!
I’m 100% the summer camp lady. Too few camps and your children drive you crazy, too many camps and your pocket book can’t take it. It’s a delicate balance!
I’m the party animal – St. Pat’s is my favorite holiday, my slow cooker corned beef is on point and I’ll have a beer.
Used to be the summer camp mama, but mine both lined up jobs this summer. This too shall pass ladies! Have a great weekend.
I’m 3 out of 4 of these ladies—no cold so far! 🤞🏻We contain multitudes. 😂
Hold the line, Meredith!
march deserves its name! sickness, no days off, weather uncertainty, endlessness…and in our family at least, some very sad anniversaries (two beloved parents died in march). it’s a month to get through without quitting.
Sending you so much love for the hard days!
March SUCKS!!!!! It’s too long, too grey, too much of a weather rollercoaster, too cooped up, too much of a slog. I’m with you in surviving it!! See y’all in April lol
my daughter is now a junior in high school and I’m still in recovery from summer camp planning.
Haha, where I live, the summer camp sign up frenzy is early February 😱
that’s true in nyc too! terrifying.
January here in Atlanta!!
January here!
OMG one year I received a sign up now email from a camp in NOVEMBER *shudder*
🌱💚🌞🌷😉
