Happy Valentine’s Day, ladies! Do you have a necklace you wear all the time? Recently, I’ve been spotting women wearing gold pendants, often layered. They make a sweet statement, even over a plain T-shirt and jeans. I’m inspired to try one. Here are nine versions…

Myself, I wear the one that my fiancee gave me one year ago, it’s a gold chain necklace and beautiful moon pendant. Well, for me what is made of doesn’t really matter, I mean I like gold and silver but also wood, rock, leather maybe. The zodiac one is really beautiful, I’m Libra, so I would prefer one with Libra but still fine :) I think I’m going to buy one for myself. Great stuff!!

I wear this giant gold heart from Nashelle everyday. I get a compliment on it usually at least once a week. I sprung for the gold fill and I absolutely adore it.
I wear a tiny heart attached to a gold chain- it’s called the “Niello”. A few years ago, a friend and I went to New York to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met. She picked it up for me in their gift shop on our way out. It’s a delicate and beautiful piece that brings back fond memories of a lovely trip and a thoughtful friend.
Funny story- for Christmas a few years ago, my mom found an online shop that sells necklaces in the outline of states. She bought a bunch of Kentucky ones for her friends, and then because I was living in Denver at the time, threw a Colorado one in the cart too. We had a big laugh when I unwrapped it on Christmas morning and it was just… a square. It actually looks a lot like the rectangle necklace you listed and I wear mine constantly and make sure people know it’s my Colorado necklace!
Oooh, I kind of like the thorn one. Very Beauty-and-the-Beast-esque for the timing!

I wear a simple sterling charm necklace 24/7 that symbolizes my little blended family. I make jewelry, and my 8 year old son designed it with me :) It is made up of two tiny Tree of Life charms, which form a small “locket”. Inside is a tiny cut-out heart charm my son drew (He says it’s like “a secret” since it is only seen when the charms move). Also hanging from the chain is a small sterling rectangle with “love” written on one side in my partner’s handwriting, and a “B” on the other side in my son’s handwriting. Both our last names start with a “B”. I never take it off!
I always wear my gold Egyptian cartouche which has my name in hieroglyph. My husband got it for me while on a business trip to Cairo many years ago. It’s my talisman.
I love simply pendants. My go-to necklace is a rectangular silver perfume bottle pendant which I’ve had for as long as I can remember. As far as I can recall, it actually came with one of those Magic Charm books I had as a little girl. It’s far too small to *actually* fill it with perfume easily, but I love the look.
A-ha, found a picture! It seems it’s considered “vintage” now and being sold for $75 by Etsy folk who probably don’t know it came from a kid’s book, lol!
Two of my favorite necklaces that I wear are a gold locket and a small gold square. I had no idea I was being so hip! ha! The locket actually belonged to my great, great aunt who is the namesake of my daughter. It even has her name in cursive on the back which makes it extra special to me.
Of course I can’t wear either very much these days because that same 8-month old daughter would try to rip them off my neck :).
I wear a small gold necklace every day; it’s the shape of a bear (like the bear on the California state flag) and says “Mama” in small letters. It so perfectly suits me (CA is my home and the place that lights my soul, and I’ve been a mama bear even before my son was born) that I’ve only taken it off a few times since I got it! It’s small but shiny and meaningful and I have yet to find an outfit it doesn’t complement.

Yes! I caught on to this years ago, although the necklace has upgraded since then. Last summer I bought myself Catbird’s dewdrop necklace, and I wear that nearly every day now. I also layer it sometimes with a heart pendant with ‘sensitive’ inscribed. Haha! My mom said it was like a dog-tag telling everyone of my pre-existing condition. I also do this with gold rings, I wear the exact same ones every day. There’s one my grandmother gave me that I’ve worn every day since high school. xo

It has a charm with a heart and my anniversary date, a charm with each of my daughter’s names on one side and SIL on the other, and initial charms for each of my 5 grandchildren. I LOVE it and wear it almost every single day!

In Laguna beach there’s a shop that sells initial pendants with a tiny jewel/ birthstone so I have a set for each of my 3 kids and rotate them! I always have it on. I love the idea of layering.
And I like the wide leg sailor pant but I don’t think they look flattering??
I wear a gold necklace with two tiny gold hearts that my mum got me for my first birthday. I haven’t really taken it off since I was 18 (I’m 30 now). I love how they’re suddenly so fashionable :-)

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in early April, and we are using a lot of elephants in nursery decor. Last week for my birthday he got me a silver necklace with a tiny elephant pendant, which I immediately put on and intend on not taking off until at least after the little one is born. Since the baby and I are always together right now, this is a way to feel like he’s always with us too, even when our days take us in different directions. :)
I wear a Lisa Leonard necklace every day, albeit with a new chain. Her regular chains are too delicate to stand up to little hands. Anyway, I have a circle pendant on it with my sons name and a rectangular pendant with my daughters. I need to find out if she has any other shapes because we just (surprise) found out we are expecting a third in the fall. Don’t want anyone left out!
I love the need supply ‘Nope’ necklace – my best friend bought on of these for all of her bridesmaids and had then engraved with a special nickname individual to each of us. Lol mine says smokeshow and I love it! It’s a great layering piece!

I do wear a necklace almost every day! My husband got it for me – a little silver disc indented by the artist’s fingertip – a local artist. Unfortunately, I had to get a heavier chain now that I have a toddler – she snapped the chain twice just in the course of wrangling her for diaper changes.

What is the necklace in top photo?
I usually wear a silver kanji symbol for friend that my husband gave me long ago, with a little peace symbol and a tiny dove. But for my fortieth birthday a few years back he gave me a gold cutout of our state with a heart and I wear it on special occasions (like Valentine’s day!!). It’s a sweet symbol of our love for this place. This link is a very similar one.

I wear a tiny gold pendant of my home province with a heart where my city, Winnipeg is. My boyfriend purchased it for me last year. I wear it every day and get compliments on it often. I’ve traveled all over the world, lived in China for two years and when I returned to Winnipeg, met him just months upon returning back home. I have a great love for my little Canadian city and the family and friends who live here. It is a reminder that home really is where the heart is and I found my love right here in my hometown.

My friend got me a tiny gold heart that has COFFEE etched onto it. It’s very fitting!
I also have a teeny golden Los Angeles (spelled out in cursive) necklace that I love wearing.
The thorn is so great! I love jewelry, so I have a few go-to necklaces. I have a Jeanine Payer necklace that’s a tiny silver square pendant that has a small inscription, “The journey is the reward” which my godmother gifted me when I graduated college. I also have my initials in silver letter press letters from a Erica Weiner (a gift from my sister), a horse brass my grandmother had made into a necklace (a bit more of a statement!), a choker from the 40’s which belonged to my other grandmother, and a more recent gift to myself from anthropologie I bought to go with a dress I was wearing to a friend’s wedding in August. That piece is a brass bib necklace. (Oddly enough, the dress I found when you posted it on this blog, so thanks for that! :)
Those are my favorites, in part because they all remind me of different parts of my life and different amazing women in my family! I also used to wear my grandmother’s dog tags from WW2 to work, since they’re indestructible (I’m a painter, but they’re so easy to clean!) Now I keep them safe and on display in my room instead. I decided I don’t trust chains as much as the tags.
Beautiful choices! I just started re-wearing a gold necklace that my mom bought me in high school. It has charms in the shape of the numbers 0 and 6 for my graduation year, I like how tomboyish yet understated it is.

When my father passed away, my sister and I both got a gold charm with his thumbprint embossed on it. I wear it around my neck almost every day and it’s a constant reminder of him.
When I left my home state after college, my sister bought me a small gold necklace with a pendant in the shape of my home state. I wear it every day.

Ahh I love this! When I was in college I studied abroad in Kenya, and when I was there I bought this beautiful gold pendant, in the shape of the outline of the African continent. It means so much to me and I wear it almost everyday. It’s also a great conversation starter–I can’t even begin to tell you how many people have asked me if it’s the outline of Texas (now I know who in my life needs a geography lesson)!
I have a few like those: one beautiful gold wave one I got from Surfrider for being a member, one silver antique pressed “erin go bragh” my husband got me for Christmas, and one dainty gold butterfly engraved “Erin” that my grandmother got me as a small child (and luckily, I can still wear!).
I found a beautiful antique Spanish earring (just one) in my grandmother’s jewelry that I converted into a pendant. I wear it almost every day. I love the look of a thin, gold chain with a small pendant, but if the pendant is something unique or meaningful, even better!
I still wear my Helen Ficalora charms – I got my initial when I turned 28 and added my daughter’s initial when she was born, and got a flower charm last Valentine’s Day. Classic to me!
