Which are you? By the hilarious Grace Farris.
P.S. The witching hour and what’s your sign?
A mix of Collector and Apothecary for me! I love having a bunch of types (though probably less than many collectors) but all are super carefully vetted for their natural ingredients, and I do make my own chapstick. My mom is the Valedictorian of mascaras! She’s been using Maybelline BLUE mascara since 8th grade. I think they discontinued it recently and she had to find another brand! It’s totally her signature, and one of my other aunts too (they all have blue eyes!).
We need an option for “only wears smeared NYX butter gloss”
I’m a collector and an apothecary. I have multiple Maybelline SuperStays (10?), but I just made my own lip balm (and body butter, same ingredients for both) tonight. I have been, however, avoiding lanolin since I realized what it was…
Collector. I have a few nude and red lipsticks. I never leave the house without color on my lips, have the lipstick of the day in my purse but never re-apply it. I only wear a lipbalm during the day. I have them all over the place, office, car, purse, bedside table – you get the idea.
My favorite lipsticks at the moment are from Maybelline Cream something. No 211 is lovely.
Greetings from Germany
Nicole
A mix of the collector and the valedictorian. I have one lipstick that is my go to shade (Maybelline colour drama in minimalist which is the perfect pink ever and stays on for hours but is super easy to remove) and then I have a collection of lipsticks, a few mattes, a couple of glosses, the darker colours for when I want some drama and the super stay lipsticks for when I want something I can apply once and forget about it.
I’m something of a collector…there are a few brighter glosses in the bathroom, but what I carry is less than six nude variations. I like them all & yet have to take a quick look when I’m at the store!
I’m the chapstick one (never actually chapstick brand) and I keep them stored in like 15 different spots all over my house, office and purse
A mix of valedictorian and collector- always using a mix of what I call my “light lipstick” which are basically shimmery plum/bronze shades. Heather Shimmer by Rimmel, Goldpearl Plum-Revlon and Mica by Loreal. Been wearing these shades since 2000.
Collector- if i do wear a stronger color always am looking in the spring/summer for the the perfect fuschia with bluish tones like Funny Face by Nars, Sea Fleur- Loreal (no longer sold), Garden- Revlon HD Gel Lipstick. Fall/Winter- i tend to go with merlot and claret shades like cruella and majella by NARS.
Collector—have more misses than hits: always searching for the elusive perfect color!
I am the Valedictorian one, sadly…
I wish I was the Valedictorian! To have found what works for you so early!! After many (many) years I have found my shade- a Laura Mercier lip stain mixed with Burt’s Bees plain lip balm. Now I can be a Valedictorian too!
OMG. I am sooo the collector. It’s a problem. But on the other hand, I might be an expert. Chanel Pirate, Nars Cruella, new faves Le Rouge in Jeanne and possibly all time fave – Fempower Beauty in Lilith. I can’t even write this without wanting to buy more red lipsticks.
48 years here! I have been using the same colour since I was in my mid-twenties or so. I rarely change it.
Ha, love this! Vaseline is the only thing that works for me. The price is right and it always looks like a light, flattering lip gloss. :)
Totally the Collector. Who knew there were so many very slightly different shades of coral??
My thoughts on fuchsia exactly ;)
Me regarding soft browns.
Definitely the “Renegade” =) Cherry Chapstick FTW!
Love this Grace Farris group!
Renegade Collector, 50 years+, same dusty rose and coral group since my twenties; and, Lip balm/Chapstick for anytime, especially chocolate flavor, if I can find a good one.
Chapstick only always (multiple times per day)! I have super dry lips and have tried all of the “ultra moisturizing” lipsticks with no success. I do think red lips look so lovely though! Wish I could do it :)
Hybrid of an apothecary/chapstick/Valedictorian in that I find something I love then stick with it until it’s discontinued and I’m forced to start all over again. Daily use is a Burt’s Bees strawberry chapstick since it first appeared. I wonder how many tubes I’ve ingested by now?
Currently in search mode for a natural tinted gloss *that I love * which is always impossibly difficult. I’ve resorted to staining with a slice of beet with BB’s chapstick on top when the occasion calls but I really like a hint of sparkle and not staining my fingertips. The search continues…
Unsure if you can get the brand in the US but I love Nude by Nature’s lip glosses they add a hint of colour with some shine. Also Burts Bees lip oil is meant to be great.
But if you’re an actual scientist the only primers you have are for your experiments (bad non-inclusive biology joke). – from your biologist follower
I’m the renegade.
Hehe glad I’m not the only one to think of DNA first when reading the word “primer”!
Aquaphor only. I know it has bad junk in it. But it’s the only thing that has worked for me year after year.
I am the scientist!
renegade!
Combo Renegade and Apothecary: Burt’s Bee’s Red Dahlia. With a dash of Collector: Ilia Europa, Rosewood, Lust for Life.
Clinique Black Honey forever.
Check! Been wearing it since I was in high school…
The Valedictorian lip stain for sure!
Oh my gosh, yes! Forgot about this shade. I’m definitely going to pick some up. Thanks for the blast from the past. I can actually taste it the memory is so strong!
I was just going to say that I’m probably closest to the valedictorian because I’ve been using Black Honey since high school!
Jeannie—me, too! Since Prom ‘98!
YES!!!
The Collector, with dreams of wearing red but happiest in pink.
Same here! Chanel L’Exuberante is my go to pink
