Fleabag Season 2

Fleabag Season 2

If you take anything away from the past twelve years (!) of Cup of Jo, let it be the Grand Canyon trick and to immediately watch Fleabag Season 2. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s six-episode masterpiece follows our thirtysomething hero, as she navigates grief, work and family — and meets a “cool, swear-y” priest. It’s hilarious, honest and utterly human; and I’ve thought deeply about it more over the past week than I have any other movie or show perhaps ever. Said Joss Whedon on Twitter: “Okay, I finally watched Fleabag, it was fine I guess but I have an issue — at the end, how do I watch anything else or make anything else or live my life or breathe or feel or care or walk or fly did I fly am I here is it me do I live through this now what how but.” Agreed.

Sesame Street New Character, Karli foster kid

The newest muppet on Sesame Street is green-haired Karli, a kid in foster care who lives with her “for now” parents. In her debut, Karli appeared in a YouTube video titled “You Belong,” along with her foster parents, Dalia and Clem. “Sometimes even mommies and daddies need help taking care of their children,” they explain to Elmo. “Karli’s mommy has been having a hard time, so we will keep her safe until her mommy can take care of her again.” The team behind Sesame Workshop says they want the 440,000 kids currently in foster care to know there is a place for them, giving us all one more reason to love the show.

Davelle Japanese cafe toasts

Do you ever go out to eat alone? Eric Kim, from Food52, rounded up the 16 best places to dine solo in New York City — including Japanese café Davelle for its lovely toasts. Plus, he shares his favorite places to hang out alone, like the Washington Square Park dog run and Bed Bath & Beyond. What would you add to the list?

Dôen tote bag

Recently, I’ve been carrying a large bag around with picnic snacks, books, whatever the boys need. This pretty number or denim tote would fit the bill — and also have room for all the sticks and rocks five-year-old Anton finds along the way.

P.S. Thoughts on aging, traveling alone and 8 fun Instagram accounts.
