Where do you typically shop for artwork? We love 20×200 and Eventide. And now Block Shop just launched these gorgeous woodblock prints. They’re a textile company run by sisters Hopie and Lily Stockman in Los Angeles and a family of printers and dyers in Rajasthan, India. The entire process is manual and done in small batches, so no two textiles are exactly alike.
Wouldn’t they look beautiful above a sofa or bed?

These art posts always bum me out a little. I know it is meant to be encouraging to people whose budgets are modest, but you live in NYC! Do you know how many actual galleries and artists there are here? Small galleries like mine sell affordable original art– not just prints and editions. And we work with collectors to pay over time or find pieces in their budgets. Why is there never anything about visiting a young gallery in BK or the LES? So many opportunities to support a local artist or space that keeps the city abuzz!
but these are independent artists and makers working in small batches in the US and India. that is important to support too!

Not two nights ago I was scouring old posts for art website ideas! I love large art ( plus I don’t have to coordinate multiple prints)!
Jenny from Little Green Notebook has crated a really cool print shop online. It’s called Jenny’s Print Shop and you just pay $15 per print for the download. They’re really high quality images and you can print them out in whatever size you choose!
Society6! They always have 20% off and free shipping sales. Or my favorite: print a poster size of your own photo, get a sale canvas from Michael’s, and use mod podge to seal it on to the canvas = large art for under $30!
Here in the Netherlands, I really like the maps of wijck.com . They make very simplified maps of cities all over the world (including of Paris and NYC) and of neighbourhoods in the Netherlands and I just got one of our neighbourhood.
I also really like yellowkorner. They have small galeries (also in Belgium and Germany), plus a website where they sell the most beautiful photos (including Slim Aarons, Jacques Tati etc) in limited editions. We have one of a Coney Island Ferris wheel, since the hubby likes Fairs and I love New York.
Today at a local design store I picked up a 1962 republished print of LAX airport, a place with so many memories for me. The 60s-style print of such a special place was meant for my room!

My friend Laura Sawaya has lovely serene, surreal landscapes…I have on in my yoga room. I love it’s meditative quality.
Ps, she has original works for as little as $200 for smaller pieces :)

I have that jumpsuit! It’s from Off-On (Etsy). I also have their apron dress, a shirt dress, and some jumpsuits for my daughters. Great shop.
We never shop for art online. I know there is wonderful stuff out there, but it’s so hard for us to fall in love with a piece when we haven’t seen it in person. We have a ton of art, but we always buy it when traveling or at a local art show, gallery, student sale, etc.

There used to be this wonderful online boutique art shop called Buddy Editions. It was run by Katie Armor. There was this magnificent painting of Joan Didion that I’d been wanting to buy for so long, and then she and her husband moved overseas and she decided not to continue with it. Alas, I’m out of the loop on current art shops, so I was thrilled to see this post! <3

These are so great! Sadly out of my price range, but such great inspiration! Makes me want to do some simple line drawings or potato block printing on a great paper with a deckled edge.
