Fall always gets us really excited about fashion. It’s the season for layering pretty things and soft fabrics — like velvet! Here are six trends we’re really into. (Click or tap on the photos, if you’d like!)
Ribbed turtlenecks
Turtlenecks can get a dorky rap, but the ribbed style we’re loving feels more 1970s Ali McGraw than Steve Jobs. They’d pair beautifully with wide leg pants or a leather skirt if you’re feeling adventurous. Above: 1, 2, 3.
Velvet
A wise man once said, “I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially appropriate.” And we agree: Nothing feels better. Plus, when you’re at a holiday party, and your partner throws an arm around you, velvet is the softest and sexiest ever. Above: 1, 2, 3.
Block heel Mary Janes
We’ve been digging block heels for a while now, but sometimes they can veer a little into grandma territory. The Mary Jane version with an ankle strap feels younger and party ready. We’d love to wear them with a little black dress or the ankle jeans below. Above: 1, 2, 3.
Ankle-length jeans
The new sweet spot for denim hems — just between cropped and boot length — shows a sexy hint of ankle. These jeans look great with flats or sneakers, but on colder days go for booties with socks (try a patterned pair, if you’re into it). Above: 1, 2, 3.
Puffer jackets
We used to reserve puffer coats for those days when all we cared about was staying warm. (Fashion, be damned!) But this season’s down jackets are a little slimmer, a little sleeker and cute enough to pull on every day. Above: 1, 2, 3.
Ties on things
You know that effortless look that comes from tying a sweater around your shoulders or a jean jacket around your waist? This season, we’re seeing shirts, dresses, trousers and even sweaters with tie details that add the same relaxed vibe. Above: 1, 2, 3.
Thoughts? Which would you wear? This number is high on my wishlist.
P.S. One woman’s inspiring style, and pretty gold earrings.
