Under the categories of “Biting Off More Than We Can Chew” and “Things You Shouldn’t Do With a Newborn and a Toddler,” we have decided to move…

The moving date is this Saturday! I’m so excited!

Our current two-bedroom West Village apartment looks okay in photos, but it’s actually super small, old and crumbling. Over the seven years that I’ve lived here, our third-floor walk-up apartment has had seventeen mice, cockroaches, two lead paint abatements, two burst pipes, a broken fridge, two leaky ceilings, a falling roof, truly crazy neighbors…the list goes on. But we loved our neighborhood and the rent was affordable. And nutty apartments are part of the NYC experience, right?

But while the apartment was great when we were young and fancy free, now that we have two babies, I’ve been losing my mind a little bit.

So, while we continue looking for a Brooklyn house, we have decided to move to a two-bedroom apartment a little farther downtown in Manhattan for the next year. The apartment is bright and airy and you can see sailboats from the windows! The building overlooks the Hudson River and is flanked by two playgrounds and a beautiful park (where Toby has all his birthday parties!). Our close friends live in the building, which is a huge bonus. We’re psyched that it will feel like college, since we can walk up to their apartment in socks to watch TV and drink beers.

While I’m already nostalgic about leaving the West Village, I’m so excited for a fresh clean place. And it’s only a five-minute cab ride and eight-minute bike ride away (I’ve clocked it:)

Here’s our building:

I’ll be taking the next couple days off to get sorted, and we’re really excited to share photos of the new apartment once we get settled. Wish us luck on Saturday, eeks!!!

P.S. Our current apartment, and the Cup of Jo Guide to NYC.
