Where’s Your Swimsuit From?

10 Lovely Swimsuits

What kind of swimsuit do you wear? I’ve been wearing the same white J.Crew bikini for more than a decade, but I’m finally itching to try something new. Alex is voting for this rash guard (he wants us all to wear them), but I’d love to find something pretty, maybe a one-piece for running around with the boys this summer. Here are a few suits that have caught my eye…

Thoughts? Where did you find yours? I’d love any recommendations… This is a pretty print, too, in plus sizes.

P.S. If money were no object, this one is beautiful!

I get mine at swimsuitsforall! I’m partial to their high waist bikinis and one piece sarong front suits.

I’m on the hunt for one myself! I’ve been wearing the same navy blue halter bikini from Target for almost 10 years, and I’ve decided it’s time to update. I’ve discovered I’m not a fan of suits that tie behind the back because then there’s a big ol’ knot digging into your back when you recline.

I love the look of one pieces and I tried on this really sexy and classy suit at Nordstrom (http://bit.ly/1pC6DJC). But alas, it was a little too short in the torso to be comfortable.

I just ordered this retro white and blue striped crop top suit from J Crew (https://www.jcrew.com/p/E8433) that I think would look equally fitting at the Oregon Coast, on the beaches of Santorini, or swimming laps at the public pool! Fingers crossed it works out!

Joanna, I think we’re all highly anticipating an update on the suit you end up selecting! Happy hunting!

Rash Guards are actually great. I live in New Zealand and the sun here is insane, and I burn really easily. Wearing long sleeves has saved me when going to the beach/surfing here. Rip Curl and Roxy make some really cute rash guards/surf tops ;) Love the suits you’ve featured though!

  4. My favorite suits are from Seea (www.theseea.com). They have the cutest prints, flattering cuts and the fabric they use is super sturdy because it’s meant for withstanding the wear that surfing puts on it. I’ve had one of their suits for a few years now and it’s still in great shape!

  5. the ballerina one is beautiful! so simple, but the colors work so well together. i’ve seen so many pretty one pieces on shopbop recently

  6. I have a new one piece from a local boutique, Albion! It’s got rucheing on the sides and it just looks so flattering and I’m not usually a fan of one-piece swimsuits. I know they also have super cute bikinis. My favorite bikini is actually from ASOS, from a couple years ago. I absolutely adore it, but I don’t get to wear it very often haha

  7. Celia Canada says...

All of mine are from Aubade, well know in FRANCE for their ” lingerie” ( don.t know how to say in english!)
I live in Canada now but as soon as i put a tooth in France , i go directly to Aubade ans by chance, summer is the Time for sale there!
They are So feminine, gorgeous and a little sexy but just enough!

  8. I’m itching to try something high waisted and would be keen to find a pair before I head off to the blue lagoon! Currently wearing neoprene ones by Triangl..

  9. Katie says...

I tried on that JCrew Scoopback one (in a Baywatch red), and unfortunately it just wasn’t special enough for the price. It’s too bad, because it looks phenomenal on that model!

  10. Lisa says...

Any idea who makes the grey 2 piece suit in the first photo with the blonde ? Thank you !

  11. Jess says...

Land’s End has some cute rash guards. I got a black and white striped one for when the sun just gets too intense but I still want to take a summer dip in the heat. My sister-in-law swears by them for all her kids. Beats all the whining about putting on sunscreen.

  12. Jenn O. says...

Check out Albion Fit (albionfit.com). Well made, unique, cute swimsuits. Not for everyone, but maybe worth a look.

  13. Lizet Riquelme says...

Muy husband totally agrees with Alex’s choice! OMG!
I vote for the multistripe or the floral one.

  14. hannah says...

i’m a convert to the high waisted mix and match bikini options from ASOS. i hate one pieces (long torso) but i also want to be comfortable at the pool with my toddler so i feel like it’s a nice sexy suit without being too over the top at family events. if that makes sense. i also have a pretty floral rash guard from albion fit for beach swimming (i have no chest so my tops always fly off). lots of cute rash guard options out there these days, now that people worry about skin cancer!

  15. Oh, all of these are so lovely. I’ve been searching for a retro-esque swimsuit; high waisted bikini of sorts… but everything I’ve come across is either too expensive or not quite what I’m looking for. Wish me luck! xxx

  16. I never wanted to spend much on a swimsuit but I couldn’t ever find what I wanted for the price I thought it should cost so I finally spent the $70 on this Modcloth swimsuit a couple years ago and I absolutely love it! I was finally sold because everyone in the user-submitted photos looked AMAZING. http://www.modcloth.com/shop/onepiece-swimwear/bathing-beauty-one-piece-swimsuit-in-red

The red is cute and un, but think I’m going to get it in black or navy for this summer!

  17. Mana says...

Oh my goodness please don’t get the rash guard! You’re hot!!! and the rash guard is like a contraception to your hotness. You HAVE to show yourself off ’cause c’mon why the hell not?

    • Vanessa says...

Agreed! That rash guard is quite appropriate as a burkini, but not for you, mama.

  18. Lauren says...

I love that high-neck option you posted, but it would leave a weird tan line with the little cutout at the décolletage area. Still love it. My current swimsuit is a classic black one-piece Jantzen with a criss-cross/wrap cut across the bust. If I still lived my home state (Florida) and not Cleveland, Ohio, I might invest in something a little more fun, but for now it’s just the basics.

  19. Sarah says...

I’m pretty sure I saw this exact post last year!

Anyway, I like a one-piece. I have a lovely coral seersucker swimsuit from J Crew & love it.

  20. I own a variety of mix and match pieces, and 2 sets. I would recommend high wasted bottoms and a bra-like top. Something that holds you well, makes you feel good in your body (boobs look perfect with bra-like tops), and allows you to be comfortable when wearing it. and playing with kids, applying sunscreen making weird movements or walking up and down the beach!

  21. Tanya P says...

Hands up tall girls who don’t look like those models…long torso one-piece suits that don’t look like something my grandmother would wear are hard to find, but J. Crew makes them! I love this one in turquoise classic stripe: https://www.jcrew.com/browse/multi_product_detail_mobile.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441862649&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302081792&bmUID=ldWlE.A

I remember my mom having one so similar and she wore it for years, every summer at the Jersey shore, and she was gorgeous! There’s something magical about suntan, floppy hats, and not worrying if your suit will let you down.

    • MissEm says...

Oo, that’s cute! And I have the same long torso issue.

  22. I always gravitate towards girly floral prints. I make sure the cut of the bikini will give me the cutest tan lines. And I make sure that neither the top nor bottom will come off while I swim.

My favorite bathing suits are always from Topshop. Forever 21 has the least expensive that I’ve ever seen (even better than Target) and they’re great quality for the price.

I absolutely LOVE Athleta bikinis (and they are really affordable)! I usually combine with a rashguard (Lululemon), visor (also lulu), and swim shorts (Roxy). Excellent for chasing small children around a pool.

That scallop suit looks beautiful – but I cannot pay $300 for a suit.

  24. Heather D says...

My answer to a swimsuit has always been “NOPE!” =P

  25. Eliza says...

If you want to go hardcore, I just got myself a wetsuit! (Long sleeves but no pants. 2 mm thick. I don’t surf at all but apparently I like to pretend that I do!)

It just arrived yesterday (I got the Graphite color) and it’s actually really cute. My kids have worn O’Neill wetsuits for the past few years–in the ocean and also in swimming pools if the water is super cold, especially for swim team or swim lessons–and they loved them so much, I got one for myself. I’m excited to use it, because I get cold easily if I’m in the water with my kids and not actually swimming much myself. I even got a baby sized one for my baby. Yay for summer!
