By the wonderful Ruth Chan.
P.S. How grief is like butter, and Ruth’s beauty uniform.
As soon as I saw this I was reminded of how Ruth’s work on grief held my hand when I navigated the death of my mother over a year ago. Many blessings to you, Ruth!
Adorable! Happy New Year!
I love this comic, Ruth! I don’t have kids but I can especially relate to the glee (I think) you illustrate in the last panel. “Welp, little baby OBVIOUSLY can’t open these, so I guess I better do it!!” Wishing all a Dragon year of good health and fortune!
Ruth, this is delightful. Congratulations on your wee rabbit!
Ruth Chan’s work makes me feel warm and fuzzy and SEEN! Happy Lunar New Year!
So sweet! Love the sentiments. Happy Lunar New Year!
I love Ruth’s illustrations! I always get homesick around Lunar New Year, especially because I don’t have many Taiwanese friends where I am in Colorado. This year, I cooked some of my favorite dishes that tasted like home… it filled my cup! Sharing in case you’d like to read:

Happy Lunar New Year! <3
Gong xi fa cai!
Ruth’s comics are always so sweet and charming. I love the cheeky bit at the end about having to open her baby’s red envelopes haha. 🥰
Love this and the spin with the zodiac animals!!
I didn’t even notice that! I just thought hm, she decided to make one parent a monkey to match her and one a rat.
Such a sweet post! I didn’t make the connection, either. That might be because I have a bad flu and my brain is in a cranky fog! Lol. I should have realized though, since I am a rat and my husband is a monkey!
This makes my heart glow ❤️
love this one!!
This is so sweet! Wishing everyone a happy lunar new year and good vibes for the year ahead!
🐲🧧🎇🥰
My sister has a store on Etsy and a customer (!) sent her a beautiful red envelope with a crisp $5 in it. We’ll remember this for-ever. It’s just such an oh-so-thoughtful of a random act of kindness that totally blew my mind.
❤️🐕❤️❤️🐉❤️❤️🐵❤️
This is so lovely in every way. Happy New Year to Ruth and her family, especially her sweet little baby bunny.
Oh a baby rabbit, how auspicious! As two Rabbits with a Pig and an Ox, I often think of my family as their zodiac animals. So lovely to see this representation of yours, Ruth. Happy New Year!
This is the sweetest thing ever. So happy for you Ruth that your parents were here and congratulations on your little one!
I love how your drew your family as their Chinese Zodiac animals! <3 <3 Happy New year
I didn’t notice til you mentioned it. How creative and adorable!!! Happy New Year everyone!!!
Love!
Aww! I think I remember the last time Ruth was featured on here, she was pregnant, or mentioned starting to try for a babe? So happy to see she has a little one in her life <3 Happy New Year!
:) I thought of that too! https://cupofjo.com/2023/07/10/ivf-comic-ruth-chan/
Oh, I loved this!! For almost 2 decades, I lived away from family, and got SO homesick every time the Lunar New Year came around. Then, recently, my hudband and I moved with our toddler closer to my parents. Celebrating Lunar New Year with them this year was special.
So sweet 🥹 I love this.
I celebrated Lunar New Year away from family for the first time this year and this made me tear up! :’)
This is so sweet; I loved it!
Happy lunar new year, everyone! May it bring you the fulfillment of your ten thousand wishes. (Ten thousand is not literal, just means a lot) I hope you will all find many things you love in the Year of the Dragon. Now time for the fried food, noodles, dumplings, and in my case, ALSO Mexican food. It is not specifically traditional but it’s super tasty and tastiness = lucky.
This is so lovely. Thank you!
Happy Lunar New Year to you as well :)
I love Ruth Chan so very very much!

There is something so simple and perfect about this. It made my heart blissfully happy.
