Elizabeth and Kyle's coronavirus wedding

Elizabeth and Kyle originally planned a big spring wedding at Blue Hill Stone Barns. But! When the pandemic hit, they had to call off the party and instead tied the knot in their apartment, with friends and family watching over Zoom. Here, Elizabeth shows us their photos…

We got married in our apartment. It was really small and low-key and beautiful.

We were originally going to get married at Blue Hill Stone Barns, so here’s the original invitation. Bernard Maisner designed it — he’s wonderful and has become a good friend.

The cake was from Blue Hill, as well.

I did a mini walk down the aisle — from our bedroom to the living room! I wore my grandmother’s wedding dress, which she had worn in 1953. She’s 97 now. I also wore a watch from my other grandmother and a necklace from my mom, which she had worn at her wedding. It felt really special, like a little piece of them were here. (The headband is by Jennifer Behr, and the shoes are Roger Vivier.)

Our officiant was our really good friend, Shira Citron; she became ordained for us.

We did a ceremony and played music, including an instrumental version of Here Comes the Sun.

The hardest part for sure was not to have my parents and grandmother there. We had a small group on Zoom — our parents, siblings, my grandmother, and one couple that we’re really close with. After the ceremony, we did a toast and my friend gave a really sweet impromptu speech and everybody cried.

Two girlfriends who live in New York came — including my friend Jess Rizzuti, who did our flowers. They stood in our living room and filmed everything for our family.

Afterward, Kyle and I walked around the neighborhood to take some pictures. Our neighborhood — Carroll Gardens — is close knit. So many people have lived here for a really long time and everyone really sweetly got involved. Everyone said it was a bright spot during this hard time.

We got a pizza from Lucali and ate it on the hood of our car. Our friends decorated it as a surprise and we drove it around the block. Everyone was cheering on the street. It was really fun.

In the end, this little wedding was perfect.
