Which Winter Personality Are You?

Hi Kim- Thank you for bringing this up. I too sometimes feel that the tone of some of the content on the site is changing to sound more like the mass produced websites/magazines available in plenty. I was however unable to point out an exact reason.
Cup Of Jo team- I love your signature pieces especially the personal style ones, motherhood around the world and general life updates. Articles like this one just take all that warmth away.

I live in WI! And went on a Norwegian cruise last year (husband’s family is Norwegian). The cruise tour lady told us that phrase: “There is no bad weather, only bad clothing”, especially in reference to surviving their torrential rainstorms. We thought that was a clever and great saying… only to repeat it to an actual Norwegian who looked at us like we were crazy and said that was the stupidest thing she had ever heard! :D I still think the phrase is a good one, just hilarious that the Norwegians don’t actually believe that.

You’ve summed up Winters perfectly Marci! My family is Norwegian (Ragnhild and Olaf and Elmer and Ivan oh my!) and they came to Minnesota before moving on to Montana, where we embrace winter. I mean, we kinda have to! I’ll add hot springs soaking to all of the winter habits. Nothing feels better than a nice hot soak after a day playing outside in the cold and snow.

Also, baked goods! Cinnamon rolls, and rhubarb pie (frozen from the summer garden) and huckleberry cobbler (frozen from Summer hiking).

Haha. Northern Canadian here who’s also lived in Moscow. I’ve been known to go on walks in -25C. Good clothes definitely make ALLLL the difference ;) no need to stay inside if you’re dressed right!

Blundstone and Dr. Martens are my warm but cool but highly functional shoes to get me through the slushy/freezy winter. Once broken in, they are endlessly comfortable and make me feel pulled together without feeling too cutesy as I tend to lean more towards androgyny, sartorially. Jeffery Campbell also has a great extra-tall chelsea boot that feels more fashion forward but could still get you through the winter.

I had a pair of smooth-leathered Ugg boots that had a low heel and were lined on the inside with wooly fabric. They came just above the ankle. Great winter boot!

I’ve never commented before, but need to on this. La Canadienne is a Canadian (shocker) brand of boots and other leather goods based in Montreal. Their boots are water proof and often lined with fleece or thick fabric. They aren’t cheap, but they’ll last forever and they are a unicorn shoe—good looking and built for weather!
