What kinds of family outings do you like? In the spirit of traveling with kids, we invited two friends — Kavi Ahuja Moltz and Lisa Mayock — on a field trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and we brought along beautiful bags from Lo & Sons. Here’s how they wore them…
Lisa, a designer and co-founder of Monogram, chose the leather Waverley, which comes with a convertible strap so you can wear it four different hands-free ways (as a belt bag, shoulder bag, crossbody or wristlet). It’s big enough to fit on-the-go essentials but would look sleek and pretty with a date-night dress, too.
Lisa and her older son Lucien spotted koi fish and turtles in the Japanese Garden.
Said Lisa: “This belt bag is the best. It’s super clean looking and great for everything — phone, keys, lipstick, snacks. Being totally hands free with a baby and a toddler is like having a third arm.”
Kavi, the co-founder of D.S. & Durga, wore the Hanover travel backpack. It’s designed for everyday adventures and bigger trips. For flights, it includes an adjustable back sleeve that fits over a wheely suitcase’s handles. (It also has a padded insert to protect a laptop computer.)
Kavi loved how light and comfortable the bag was. Plus, the Hanover is eco-friendly, made from recycled plastic bottles. “I use leather-free bags most of the time, but finding one that’s a true carryall is rare.” She used all the compartments, especially the one designed to keep water bottles from leaking. “This bag is stylish enough to take to a meeting, and nobody would know it’s 90% full of toys and wipes!” (Kavi did actually head from the Botanic Garden to a work meeting — and her backpack had Hot Wheels cars tucked safely inside.)
Lo & Sons’ travel bags are designed by a mother and her two sons. Our family has also used their bags for many years — especially the Catalina for weekend trips (and as my hospital bag for Anton!). You can find all their bags, which come in many sizes and colors here. Also, new subscribers to Lo & Sons’ email newsletter get 20% off their first order — sign up on their homepage.
Thank you so much, Kavi, Lisa and Lo & Sons!
