Have you spent much time in Vermont? I went to a ballet summer program there in high school, but spent most of the time indoors. So, when we visited friends in Warren this past weekend, we were in awe of the charming towns, rolling hills and trees as far as the eye could see. (Almost 80% of the state is forested.) Here are a few photos, if you’d like to see…
The first night, when we walked into American Flatbread, a pizza restaurant on a farm complete with pigs, a band and fire pits, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The kids immediately took off running through the grass, and we sipped ice cold local microbrews. What a magical place.
The pizzas are made in a wood-fired oven, and basically all the ingredients — meat, flour, vegetables — are local.
One night, our friend Matt built a fire from sticks (!), and the kids made s’mores.
This beer’s recycling note made me laugh.
Also, during the trip, Anton also got into taking pictures with our camera. It was so cute to see the world through his eyes. Everyone looks so big!
We spent the rest of the weekend going to farmer’s markets, swimming holes and rocky rivers. And we had dinner at Peasant (a beautiful restaurant overlooking a covered bridge, no biggie) and drinks at Tracks, the coolest bar in the basement of the Pitcher Inn — with incredible cocktails and shuffleboard.
Vermont, we’re homesick for you already, and can’t wait to come back.
