Ooh, I actually hate that quote – it just goes along with the whole “being a parent sucks and ruins your dreams” cultural narrative. But butter in espresso is delicious! Most curious baristas have tried it at some point ;)

Thanks for the lovely quote about fathers. As an adult, I now kind of look at my father as they guy who gave up everything he dreamed about as a kid himself, to ensure that his two daughters were allowed to dream. Now that he’s older, and we’re older, it’s fun to see him get excited about things I know he grew up dreaming about, like owning his own sailboat (which he does now), racing cars (which he does not), and getting to see the world outside of home (which I wish he did more of). It took him a long time and a lot of work, but I’m so proud of him for getting back to his own idea of fun. It’s like watching Peter Pan turn back into a child again. For that, I know he did a great job as a father…and I did a pretty good job as his daughter. :-)

My husband is an international pilot, but unfortunately he doesn’t put on his full uniform (like his stripes and hat) as he leaves the house, instead putting the rest on at the airport. I should make it a requirement, a retrospective marriage vow!

We Tibetans have been drinking tea with butter and salt (yep! together) for ages. In the cold of Tibet, I guess that was the ultimate “energy drink”. Also, it’s delicious!

Butter in your coffee!! Remember how, in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Katie reminisces how, when they were too poor to have cream in the house, Johnny would put a lump of butter (presumably unsalted!) in his coffee because it was cream in the first place?

I always love the fun things you share on Fridays – I didn’t click over to the “butter in your coffee” link because I do this and I just want to add a note that adding grassfed butter to your coffee, then frothing it in a blender or with a frother is literally the best way to start my morning. And a sprinkle of cinnamon :)
