  1. A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. There’s no doubt that that
you ought to publish more about this subject, it might not be a taboo
matter but usually folks don’t talk about these subjects.

    To the next! Best wishes!!

  2. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that too few people are
speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I found this in my search for something concerning this.

  3. Truly no matter if someone doesn’t understand then its
up to other people that they will assist, so here it occurs.

  4. I love these photos because I am going to a wedding at the end of the year. Feel happy because you have awesome moments in your big day.

  5. Hey I my friends I tell you something can you give me answer please Use as many fresh, seasonal ingredients in your menu as possible. As thirsts increase during the summer, appetites for heavy recipes shrink. Opt for salads and grilled food in place of stews and casseroles. Not only will your guests welcome the seasonal change, you’ll find it’s much quicker and cooler to prepare this food in the hot weather.

  6. My unforgettable wedding moment was when my sister’s dog happened to eat up all of her Bridal Shower Invitations that we bought from a professional designing company. We were so upset at that moment! Another actual unforgettable wedding moment happened when the flower girl, my little cousin, immediately ran out of the altar because she was so nervous! It delayed the wedding for 15 mins until we finally calmed her down.

  7. That switcheroo photo is hilarious! My favourite moment from our wedding was when our dad’s lifted each other up (indian tradition) and shocked everyone during our ceremony. I didn’t cry at our wedding surprising because I think I was having too much fun, and just way too happy!

  8. perfect post over all post about wedding is very very interesting thanks allot to share it with is a moment which no one can be compromised in his/her life.

  9. Moment Junkie is the first site I visit in the morning, because it’s such a lovely way to start the day! David Pullum’s photos there are consistently my favorites. The cake crash especially is a wonderfully loaded moment.

  10. The hungry baby, tops for me! Great set of photos, nice examples all of great in-the-moment photography.

  11. Thanks for these great comments! Sorry for my slow reply; I have had 8 million final doctors appointments this week :)

As for the previous post: I decided to turn off the comments out of respect for Grace, because I was posting about Grace’s coming out post and I didn’t want to foster any debate (or possibly hurtful comments) on my site about her brave personal decision. I feel very strongly about supporting marriage equality and just wanted the speech and post to speak for itself. Hope that makes sense!

  12. One of my dad’s favorite songs is “My Humps” by Fergie. He knows all the lyrics. I put it on the playlist at the reception and he got in the middle of the dance floor and rapped/sang the whole thing in front of everyone! It took some coaxing to get him out there, but once he was, he was so into it. It was priceless.

  13. These literally made my day! All these moments are so precious.

  14. jm says...

    These warm my heart!

  15. Oh Jo! You always radiate so much joy in your pictures! I love the one you linked!

  16. K says...

I had a ton of summer camp friends that came. At camp when you “like” someone, they chant “SO AND SO, SO AND SO, STRONG AND ABLE, CARRY SO AND SO AROUND THE TABLE” and then sing “round the table you must go, you must go you must go…” and on. It was a total surprise (I had forgotten it!), my husband picked me up and carried me around the long guest tables.

  17. Of course my husband seeing me for the first time was really special, but a really memorable moment was when my brother was officiating the wedding.

We had planned to have in the middle of the ceremony, a wonderful musician play an acoustic version of a Beatles song. Well my brother forgot when the musician was supposed to come in, so he made the signal for the musician to play, but when he immediately realized it was too early, he made a really funny face, and a “cut your throat” sign. Everyone laughed so hard.

  18. Right after our ceremony and family pictures, we headed over to the place where we’d be having dinner. On the way my husband and I were STARVING because neither one of us had eaten for hours… so we went through the Wendy’s drive through to each grab a 5 piece chicken nuggets. He was in his suit & I was in my dress & veil and the guy at the drive through window was like, “Did you just get married???” haha.

  19. I’m not sure why the previous posts comments are turned off.. that seems a bit sad because its such an important speech which would stimulate an important conversation.
Anyways, I’m proud to be from Canada where 3 days ago we celebrated our TEN year anniversay of the legalization of gay marriage. It’s shocking its still even an issue.

  20. I cried like a baby when my Dad saw me for the first time in my dress. I saw so much pride in his face. We hugged for a good 5 minutes just crying together. It was the best moment between Ffther and daughter!

Another favorite moment was the final dance there my husband and I broke out into an impromptu dance with all the best moves including the shopping cart, lawn mower and sprinkler. We were so in sync everyone thought it was a routine we rehearsed!

  21. New Zealand accent would be perfect. I love when people have some humor at weddings.

My favorite moment was rounding the turn into our very tiny chapel and seeing my husband. His eyes lit up and it will be one of the best moments ingrained in my mind for years to come.

  22. My husband forgot to take his shoes off at our outdoor beach wedding because he was so nervous. All the pictures are of me barefoot and him in shoes. So funny.

  23. Hahaha. These are such amazing moments. Can’t wait to have some of my own one day. That picture of you during the toast is priceless! So cute!

  24. So many good memories…but if I had to choose a particularly good one caught on camera it would be during the reception when I tossed my bouquet. At first I threw it too high and it hit the ceiling. Second time around, in an attempt to not hit the ceiling, I threw it like a rocket. One of my bridesmaids is caught on camera fleeing for her life and her expression is that of pure terror. Hysterical.

  25. I had an unforgettable moment right before I walked down the aisle. My niece, who was two at the time, was the flower girl. She toddled halfway down the aisle and then got supremely pissed off. She threw her flower basket and when my sister went to scoop her up she threw both of her sparkly shoes down the aisle screaming “No no no!”. Everyone got a real kick out of it. It was the perfect comic relief for me and my dad, who were anxiously waiting for our cue to go. We were able to laugh, breathe, and let some tension out before the big walk.

  26. My best friend is a musician, and had planned a set of ballads for the night. Toward the end she outed me a real Neil Diamond fan and had everyone singing “Sweet Caroline” – classic moment!

  27. Are the comments purposefully turned off on the previous post (about New Zealand’s marriage vote)? That’s a bit sad.

    • I noticed that too, Meredith.

    • That is sad, Meredith. I’m a Kiwi and am really proud of Maurice for that speech! – Jody

    • Jody, me too! And the video of the whole floor singing “Pokarekare Ana” after made me tear up.

It bothers me that on a relatively substantial (but perhaps slightly provocative) post, the comments are turned off. But on a trivial wedding post, people can comment away. If you’re too nervous about the types of comments you might receive on a post and disable them, you probably shouldn’t post it at all.

    • Meredith, I agree but after following A Cup of Jo for a year, I think Joanna tries to keep things light-hearted on this site. Maybe that’s why the comments were off? A shame though – not much about NZ appears anywhere in US media/blogs etc! I get so excited when we get a mention!

  29. I’m just full of (happy!) tears today going through your wedding posts — thanks for sharing!

  30. My nephew and niece were 3 yo when we got married and they both circled the cake and put their fingers in it. Such a sweet picture and memory.

  31. Our best man split his pants on the dance floor!! I didn’t know until after the honeymoon. haha He put basketball shorts over his suit pants!

  32. These are all so cute! I love the last one. That will totally happen if/when I get married. Except Diesel (our puggle…isn’t he cute?) will be jumping up the back of my dress, not howling. :)

  33. Married four months — my favorite photo is of my husband scooping me up in his arms with a devilish grin while I look shocked and attempt to keep holding my champagne flute. The degrees of surprise are registered on all the guests’ faces around us.

  34. Wonderful photos, love the giant split! I cried at my wedding when I hugged my new mother-in-law and she was crying tears of pride and happiness =) That really set me off!

  35. When my sister (MOH) and the best man came busting out on to the dance floor wearing scuba suits!! We got married at the aquarium and they snuck into the back somewhere and stole some scuba suits LOL!! Unfortunately my photographer had already left, but we still got some great pics of it. SO FUNNY!!!!

  36. Lovely pics! In Hindu ceremonies it is customary for the bride’s family to steal the shoes of the groom (he removes them before entering the stage). Since we had a week long celebration in Fiji, a lot of strategising took place and I’ll never forget seeing my little sis racing along the beach in full sari then being tackled to the ground by one of my husband’s cousins!

On another note, thank you for your post below – I am a Kiwi and very proud of that day. Another very moving moment was when the whole visitors section at parliament broke into Maori song once the law was passed!

On another, another note (I’ll be quiet soon) I just gave birth to a lovely baby boy and at the last moment we joined a hypnobirthing class (not what it sounds like) – just using breathing, visualisations and focussing techniques to promote a natural birth. Would be a great discussion topic as it was a really awesome and positive experience (27 hours :)) for my husband and I. Sounds quite hippy but we took it with a grain of salt – it worked!

  37. OH man, there were too many favorite moments to ever list them all! Sometimes my husband and I will find ourselves sitting around reminding each other about moments one of us had totally forgotten and we always end up smiling and laughing uncontrollably and then counting our innumerable blessings. Our wedding was thrown for us by our friends and family–they cooked the food, they grew our flowers, they baked our cake, they took our pictures, they held a circle around our love and promised to honor our commitment and remind us forever of the wonderful promise we had made to each other. The most wonderful memory of that day would have to be that we both feel like we wouldn’t have changed a thing. Blessed be!

  38. My husband started crying the second the church doors opened & I was at the other end of the aisle. I saw it immediately & knew we were both goners. My parents walk me down the aisle. My mom takes one look at Chris & pulls a tissue out of the bosom of her dress…at my black tie wedding. I laughed through my tears. Where else was she going to put it, I guess???

One of my favorite memories was cutting our cake. I was SO nervous that Chris was going to shove my piece in my face. Apparently he had the same fear. We have a great series of pictures of him waving his finger at me. Ha!! Love weddings!!

  39. oh, these are ridiculously cute!! my most favorite wedding moment actually happened right after the wedding itself…i got married in maui with just a handful of friends present, and after the ceremony we were driving back to our hotels and spotted a whale. so naturally, in our wedding gear & all, we decided to climb down a very, very steep hill down to the water to get a better view. just stood there for about 20 minutes in awe.

  40. One of my favorite moments was the flash mob that my bridal party, friends, and family secretly organized and performed! We were speechless! You can see it here: I love when my husband gets a little teary :)

    • That is adorable! I love the man in the front row — a father or relative?

    • That just made me tear up, so sweet!!!

    • h1113- My father :) We voted him MVP of the wedding!

    • This is too adorable!! Btw, you looked beautiful, Carly!

  41. Some really sweet photos….but “the switcheroo”, WHY would you do that??!!

    • I shot that image, Simone. These two members of the wedding party were hilarious, so when they came up with the wacky idea to enter the reception in each other’s clothes, the newlyweds agreed it would be fun. Trust me, the bride and groom reclaimed their guest’s attention with their amazing first dance, and the rest of us were treated to an unforgettable moment. So fun!

  42. These were so great. Funny and sweet. I thought FOR SURE, HANDS DOWN I was going to cry at my wedding. However, just like on the day he proposed, I was too giddy and giggly to cry. I just couldn’t stop smiling!

  43. I think my favorite moment was when we arrived at the reception. We hadn’t planned to have the DJ introduce us or the wedding party, but when we got there, one of my husband’s oldest friends opened the door, turned to the rest of the guests, and said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, the bride and groom!” It was a lovely, personal, spontaneous moment.

  44. These pictures are fantastic!I just can say one thing: I love weddings! You celebrate love, commitment, family and friends with yummy food and pretty dresses. Can you ask for more??? yes, you get to travell afterwards!!!
Weddings are oe of the best things in life!!!

  45. I thin your promotion of Moment Junkie made their site crash :)

  46. One of my favorite moments was eating a plate of my grandma’s chicken wings with my husband before the reception. We were so hungry (you know how it is as the bride and groom: so much fabulous food and yet with all the excitement you never quite get around to really eating!). She sat us down on a giant cooler and draped a tablecloth over my dress lobster-bib-style. It was so nice to have that moment of quiet, just the two of us, and get some good food!

  47. These are great! Baby one made me laugh :)
