By the lovely Grace Farris.
P.S. Pumpkin spice and which jeans are cool now?
Thank you for the smiles!
Bandanas for sure. A cozy neck scarf is as good as putting on warm socks.
Love the Louvre thief look haha
So great. So nuanced. Love you, Grace Farris!
Love it!
For Diane! 🍷🧊😉
Such a accurate illustration of fall sartorial choices! I’ve been loving wearing my cozy sweaters (partial to an handknit alpaca one and a rosepink cardigan from Sezane) and silk neck scarfs (the Hermes Jungle Love Pattern scarf that I thrifted for $5 Canadian dollars has been around my neck all autumn – even made it’s debut in Paris in September, as it rightly should!). Autumn dressing is truly when my style always revives itself in the year, summer dressing is so minimal compared to all the layering I’m able to do the other three seasons.
I just got the email from our library about our book today, and I am also–mostly– dressed all black this fall–Grace Farris has nailed it! :)
The thrill of getting the notification that your library book is ready to pick up. Ooooh I love it.
How bout getting notice all 10 holds are ready ! Ha. They all came in at once ! For some I was like #60 in line ! Now frantically reading through them. Just finished Culpability today and started The Correspondent. Next up Theo of Golden and Buckeye ! Had to return Fresh Water For Flowers ( insert cry emoji ) before I finished it. But the first line I read , for a chapter intro, had my husband and I clutching each other and sobbing before work ! I’m now gonna buy it.
On Louvre chic, as a kid I misheard/interpreted all kinds of song lyrics and thought they were about heists, e.g. “Baby Got Back” (“Use me, use me, ’cause you ain’t that average jewel thief”) and “Simply Irresistible” (“She’s so fine, there’s no telling where the money went”).
Ahh, Diane! I’d better reach for some Annie Hall-ian separates today. <3
Yes! I miss Diane. She was one of greats.
I wish I had thought of “Louvre Jewel Thief” in time for Halloween! I have some gaudy plastic “jewels” left from a long-ago high school play that I’ve used for various other Halloween costumes, but it didn’t occur to me to bring them out this year.
That would have been an amazing costume!!
Nailed it with Keaton and the Louvre inspo. 😍

Dear friend,
You are cordially invited to join!
I’ve just created a private FB group, for friends of COJ.
My hope for this group is:
Another way to connect. We can share pics, links, recs.
A way to connect in the real world to provide support and for friendship.
Recipes, books, event sharing.
A place to share the special things you love and make.
And I’m very open to ideas for other ways this group could be helpful.
Please join, then message me, Sasha Lindberg, if you’d like to help moderate the group. I would love to have a whole team.
We are up to 11 members! Lol.
Oh I would love to join but I don’t use Facebook :( Love the idea though!
I have avoided FB from its very first drop.
There has to be another type of forum setup that’s appealing. One that cones to mind…
Any chance you are familiar with the food forum, Hungry Onion? The software suite used there might be compatible with what you are describing to further conversation.
Count me in!
I’m intrigued, but not on FB…I want to connect with an online community, but the social media founders and general MO give me the creeps! Maybe we’ll have to bring back the old-fashioned newsletter.
I know a lot of people hate FB, I also don’t love it. But I haven’t found another social media platform that works for a group. And that’s my goal here, a platform that can support posts and comments, sharing and photos. A place that those who wish can know each other s little better, and offer support. I finally jumped when a commenter last week shared in the food security post that she had taken on hard times and could use help. Joanna, so generously and graciously stepped in and helped. But i thought, if this was a fb group, it would’ve been really easy for anyone who wanted to chip in. And I want to enable that. As well a, “I’m traveling to Nashville next month, what should I do?” Or “can anyone help me find the perfect shoes for this wedding outfit?” The comments section is awesome, but not that user friendly when someone needs help.
And of course, this group isn’t replacing anything. It’s just in addition.
Oh, one more thing.
I have experience admining fb groups (local hiking, women’s backpacking, a cabin rental group) and I’ve figured out a few things that help groups be great. Post approval. Private. Membership questions. And active moderation. If you’ve been in fb groups that felt hate filed and like a free for all, they don’t have those things enabled. When those safety measures are in place, they are pretty helpful and wonderful places.
Would love to but I deleted FB during Trump 1.0, Twitter the minute it was rumoured Elon was buying it, and Insta when I saw Zuck shoulder to shoulder with Trump at inauguration #2. Running out of options over here.
Same. No Facebook or Instagram for me. People on this site have been so vocal about Amazon re: boycotting it, so I’m surprised that these other social media platforms are routinely mentioned. No shade to you personally, Sasha!.
Absolutely want to join and support but also wrestling with fb as I no longer have an account. Gosh I miss Yahoo Groups. I understand the person who invented Yahoo Groups created Groups.io but I don’t know anything about it. Stay tuned xo
Sasha this is such a lovely idea but the reluctance about FB is real. Some suggestions for alternatives : Geneva, Discord, even slack (less easy)

"I like the Gloria Steinem vibes of this outfit."
