How was your weekend? A while back, a lovely CoJ reader named Molly asked if everyone could share weekend recaps now and again. Here’s mine, and please share yours in the comments, if you’d like…

First off, we had two beloved visitors this week: my dad and our cousin Jimmy (on the left in the top photo). My dad, true to form, immediately washed and waxed our car, since that’s his hyper-specific love language. I always find it very moving.
Then, on Friday night, my dad and I played Codenames online with my boyfriend Freddie and my sister Lucy. (It’s a really fun activity to do with people who live far away.) My dad, while giving clues, kept trying to cram two words into one, like “visionfree,” which was why we were all laughing.

On Saturday, my dad and I took a long walk around the neighborhood. Side note: I get so many compliments on these white flats, and they are SO comfy with cushioned padding. They almost feel like sneakers; I’ve been wearing them non-stop.

Then trick-or-treating began! What fun Halloween costumes did you see? I loved my friend’s daughter’s DIY carousel, and we also saw someone dressed as the shower from the 1960 movie Psycho.

And, of course, I’m sure San Francisco readers already know that the Valkyries won the WNBA championships that evening!!!

The next morning, we all slept in and had a lazy Sunday. My dad and I read on the sofa — I just started Fallow by Sarah Anderson, which seems very compelling so far. Have you read it? What else are you reading these days?

And Jimmy and Anton made up a million ridiculous games. Here, they were throwing a Swiss cheese squishy onto the ceiling. Then one person lay beneath it with their eyes closed, while the other promised to grab it when it fell. “Trust me, Jimmy,” Anton said, earnestly. “I do, mate,” answered Jimmy.

When I fell asleep last night, I looked at this wall hanging in my bedroom and thought how much I adored having our relatives here. It’s sometimes hard to live states or countries away from family (do you, too?), and it’s always such a joy to see them in person. xoxo
What did you do this weekend? I’d love to hear.
P.S. More weekend recaps, and do you hang photos of your friends at home?
