I am never not aching for a long haired dachsund. What kind of flats are people enjoying this spring? PS really impressed by everyone in the comments who cuts their own hair. I have a crazy short pixie now but was in a bob era before.
Rothy’s, but will Allbirds insoles, lol.
I literally just got in from walking my red, long haired dachshund Ruby! I also have a button up and thrifted jeans on! Though currently not rocking my usual bob… too much to style given our impending second baby after 5+ years of secondary infertility. So grateful for this spring!
Congratulations on the long awaited #2! Sending you all the easy delivery and newborn vibes <3
@Sarah Levy – I’ve found (in the whole week I’ve had this cut, ha) that it seems to do well when a little textured, either from being dirty or product, like a little mouse before you blow dry.
The other thing I’ve tried that actually was great – scrunch drying it out of the shower but not combing it out straight. Then I let it dry overnight while I slept and added in some curls via curling iron when I woke up! It was CRAY-ZAY looking at first, but the curling iron gave it some beachy/messy on purpose vibes and that was real cute.
I wish us all the best of luck with our bobs!
I, too, went for the French bob, mine with the blunt ends. Looked fabulous the first day, out of the salon. Then I washed it. Still trying to figure it out!
Any recs on hair products that can help would be very welcome!
I have lived roughly 40% of my life woth some kind of bon. I have medium-fine, fairly straight hair (so this advice maybe be meaningless to you!) The easiest is to comb hair when damp (i wrap it in a towel for 10-ish minutes out of the shower), use a wide tooth comb. Part as desired (i prefer middle part for this look), tuck behind ears and let air dry. Once dry, untuck, and voila – chic and effortless.
I have the thrifted jeans and button-down on today, and a long-haired Dachshund (same color) named Hermione.
Hells yeah you do!
I like a bob in the winter and longer hair in the summer so I can put it in braids! Though in my early 40s it seems to be growing so much slower now…
Co-signing short hair in the winter and long hair in the summer! I’m all about a summer braid. And shorter cuts in the winter are great because I hate pulling my hair out from under my scarves.
I had the incredible luck to be able to go see the tulip fields near Lisse. I’ve been wanting to go for so many years, and it was spectacular! If anyone has the opportunity, I highly recommend it. So, now, I am in Paris for a couple of days. It is beautiful here! My husband and I just took a long walk to the Eiffel Tower. Tomorrow we have tickets to the Museé d’Orsay. Any other recommendations?
what arrondissement are you guys staying in? I would definitely hang by the boat pond in the luxembourg gardens, such fun people watching and soooo beautiful with the sun on your face.
Go get a glass of wine at Cafe Panis, with views of Notre-Dame! Also, Shakespeare & Company (bookstore) is pretty special.

We are in the 16th arrondissement. Thank you all for chiming in!
If you like Monet, definitely the Musée Marmottan Monet. If you like fashion, La Galerie Dior (you can stand in line for tickets). Have fun and enjoy!!
Seconding Shakespeare and Co. We did all the museums, but this was my favorite part of our Paris trip.
Just yesterday my hair misbehaved and I thought to myself, time for a cut! It’s always sudden. You’d think it’d be more predictable, but no. That one millimeter that grows overnight does it all in.
Wearing my purple Books…are Magic ballcap to soccer practice and waiting for somebody to notice and get excited. When it finally happens I’ll be so happy.
I have this ball cap in green and it’s my #1 accessory, hands down—I get so many compliments on it!! Plus I’m a librarian so it’s on point ;-)
I have the same hat in pink. It really is the perfect spring outfit!
My hair is quite long—past my shoulders—but I also am struck with Sudden Haircut Urges. I will think “oh, it’s getting longer but it’s fine” for several weeks and then suddenly one day it is not fine anymore and I need a haircut immediately! LOL.
I did just cut my hair into a Spring bob, ha!! While it’s not impossible to style, it is taking me a minute to master and it seems to be at its insouciant best when a little grungy. Not mad at that!
I need a haircut. I used to just chop it off myself but no longer can for some reason. I get my husband to do it sometimes. Most recently we had a fight mid cut and I said go away and had half cut, half not for few weeks. Luckily I just pull it back in a scrunchie so no biggie if it’s even or not. I like the shortest ponytail possible. It’s all about ease !!! This needs done today or tomorrow. I have no sharp scissors.
I just got a bob too! And I’m definitely finding it difficult to style. It’ll never look as good as it did right after it was cut and styled.
Hey there PNW, I have cut my own pixie (then) and short bob (now) for decades with these:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IFNA?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1
*apologies for the amazon link, was just the fastest way, but they are sold other places, too!!
Haha I just *accidentally*cut my own bob too. I was going for a trim but after a little here and a little there and evening out here and there I wound up with the shortest hair I’ve had in decades. Still figuring out how to style it but I don’t think I hate it.
I’m inspired by everyone who cuts their own hair! :)
I don’t mean to make light of your fight, PNW, but Strife Hair is genuinely metal!
I cut my own supershort pixie during lockdown and quite enjoyed myself. I am fairly sure it looked weird as hell, but I was wearing a mask most of the time, it was dyed blue most of the time, and that’s how things went then.
I just gave myself bangs … didn’t turn out half bad. But, I do have curly forgiving hair so that helps!
