I’m a rocky Maine coastline girl, preferably when a little chilly.
PNW moody beach with a view of mountains.
Arboretum gardenscape gal. Shade loving plants are my sweet spot. Under a large tree with headphones or book.
I’m a hike-a-strenuous-mountain-trail-in-the-morning-and-lounge-on-a-sandy-beach-in-the-afternoon kinda girl. And in the evening, give me a fire pit with loved ones. And always with all the books. Grace, thank you so much for giving us all the feels with your artwork!
All of the above!
Mountains are #1 for me, but #2 for my husband. I love the mountains in any weather but do not enjoy being on a cold beach. Luckily for me we live in the mountains of Montana with a gorgeous view.
A cozy cabin, on a lake, with a dock and mountain views, and a list of exciting mystery/thriller or historical fiction books on my kindle. BLISS
Desert all the way!
I appreciate all three, but definitely mountains most of all.
Is this who you currently are, or who you aspire to be? Right now I’m a “run after my little kids wherever we go,” person, but in my heart I’m reading on the beach by a lake with a beer after hiking the highlands kind of person! Goals!
Definitely a mountain girl. Give me a plush cabin, a romantic novel, a strenuous four-mile hiking trail and a nice, refreshing lake and I’m in mountain bliss.
Yes Erica, this sounds IDEAL. I’d vacation with you!
Neither! I’m afraid of heights and don’t live sand. I’m the wondering-around-a-city type of person. I love history so museums, old buildings and historical sites are my kind of thing.
I aspire to be person on the beach with a mountain of books, but I’m currently person running around the beach with sunscreen and armbands trying to prevent three smaller people from getting skin cancer / drowning
I’m an ocean, beach, mountain, forest, river, lake, creek, estuary, rain, sky person.
Denise, we may be soul sisters
Yes!
I live near neither, so I love to visit both! This Midwestern Great Plains girl gets a little claustrophobic after a while in the mountains, though, so I’m always glad to get home.
Earth person
Yep! As long as I’m outdoors and have books, I’m happy!😍
Mountain person! My husband and I moved to Colorado from Oklahoma this past November. We have discussed that we would like to travel and see the ocean together before long, though! Goodness knows we’ve seen our fair share of mountains together, but never any waves.
I’m tentatively planning a Colorado trip next year with my kids who will be 4 and 5. I’m a little nervous about the elevation, but so excited to be near mountains. I love the mountains! We’re probably going to travel through Denver, Colorado Springs, Estes Park and Canon City. Any recs?
Hi Kay! I live in Colorado Springs with my husband and three little ones. Here are a couple of our favorite kid-friendly activities around town:
1. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (https://www.cmzoo.org) claims to have one of the largest herds of giraffe in North America. Our kids love feeding the giraffe leaves of lettuce and are enthralled by their purple tongues. You can do this anytime throughout the day.
2. The North Pole – Home of Santa’s Workshop (https://northpolecolorado.com) is a really fun amusement park tailored to young ones. The Christmas theme is super cute, rides are adorable and designed for 2-7 year olds, and it’s just a generally fun and unique experience. It won’t feel anything like a Disney World or Six Flags, rather a fun kid outing before or after nap time. If you get to experience some of Colorado Springs’ routine afternoon showers or thunderstorms, this is a great spot to catch a rainbow.
3. A hike in Cheyenne Canyon will get the family into nature quickly and without much hassle. One of our favorites is then Seven Bridges Trail (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/seven-bridges-trail). Admittedly, my children haven’t made it much past the fourth of the seven bridges, but they always enjoy it. The folks at the nature center at the entrance to the canyon (https://coloradosprings.gov/starsmore) are very knowledgeable and will be able to point you to the right trail for the family.
4. Ivywild School (https://www.ivywildschool.com) would be a great stop after the zoo or a Cheyenne Canyon trail. It is home to Bristol Brewery (https://www.bristolbrewing.com ) my husband’s favorite and a ton of other fun food-truck style eateries. The owners converted an early-1900s era school into a community marketplace with many features that are original to the school.
In Denver, we’ve most enjoyed the Denver Botanic Gardens and children’s museum when the kids are in tow.
Hope that was helpful and have so much fun!
Steph, you are awesome, thank you!!
I’m a ‘knitting on my patio under the pergola in my garden’ person.
Now we’re talking!
Mountain person, going barefoot in the grass, taking naps with dogs on picnic mats; hearing the wind going through the eucalyptus trees.
Hands down a beach person! 🌞 (but not as covered up as the illustration shows) bring on summer! 🏝️
Couch! I am a couch person with lots of books!
Me too! I was just thinking “I’m an indoor person” when I saw your comment, haha!
Beach reader who stares out to sea, thinking about beer. And repeat.
Brilliant! Me too.
Yes!! Same!
Yess! With a book in my bag that never comes out.
Mountain of books in the hotel room or on the shaded deck. Love love love it.
Me too!
Mountain of reading material in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Hmm.. I am a “see all the things, taste all the things, walk everywhere” person.
Mountain of books at the beach for sure. I do love the beach too and I do swim but beach time=reading time. I even “save” unread books for the beach.
I love the idea of reading on the beach but in reality never manage more than a couple of pages! I’m a beach-with-a-cocktail or running in and out of the sea person (but still carry the book in my bag every day just in case)
This is a good one Grace! I’m actually all three of these persons wrapped into one!
Have a beautiful day! <3
D. All of the above 😎
Big same!!!
I live in the mountains in Colorado so a vacation for me is definitely finding warmer weather! I can’t sit on a beach the whole vacation, so a combo of relaxing and activity is the perfect balance. I recently went on a girls trip to Costa Rica for a friends 40th birthday and we learned to surf! It was so much fun (and humbling), but there was plenty of chill time too.
I’m a beach read and hammock mid-mountain hike person. 🏔️
A mountain person! In a cabin, after a snowy hike, with lots of books.
All of the above!
Oh, the pounds of books I have piled into my suitcase over the years!
I now have a kindle, but place holds at the library for all versions of what I’m interested in reading, or listening to. (As I explained to my husband while recently packing two hardcovers into my long weekend bag!)
A great beach read while actually at the beach!? Heaven!
I’m a mountain of reading material in the mountains, where I live.
Ah ah ah!
