Just got back from vacation and will forever be proud of myself for not yelling when my 6 year old said I was a jerk for asking her to carry her goggles. Goddamn hero over here.
My daughter called me a sunscreen monster today on vacation and it made me laugh so much after seeing this comic
Guilty of the hat momster, while wielding a bottle of sunscreen. I also “read for a little bit” every day on the couch during the witching hour (5-6 at hour house) with varying success. This is not vacation momster, just daily life momster….
If that’s the worst the momster says, she’s doing alright.
My number one life hack as a parent on vacation is the trade-off: We each get the same number of blocks of time when one parent is in charge and the other gets to go off and do their thing or recharge. In New York last month, this meant my daughter and husband had a swimming date at Tompkins Square Park, while I hung out at a cafe and made a beeline for J. Crew and Trader Joe’s (neither of which are in Canada!)
This momster just returned — one hour ago — to her home after 2 weeks on the road with husband, 9 year old son, and 6 year old daughter. Not only can I confirm that all of the above were actually said by yours truly across those last two weeks (and repeatedly at that), but so can my husband. Here he is in all his never-commented-on-anything glory: “she did say those things.” And there you have it.
Spot on! Hope all the Moms out there get a vacation that has some fun with their family too.
We’re in Yellowstone and Grand Teton this week, and this is so accurate!
Ahahahaha made me laugh!
What vacation? “Everyone has to carry something” is literally every day over here! We have a little motto: “Everyone contributes to the prosperity of our family and the wellbeing of others.”
Jo, this momster is on vacation with your book recommendation— Olive Kitteridge — and I’ve hardly said a word to my family all week as I work my way through the Elizabeth Strout canon.
YES!!!!!!!!!! love to hear it!
