  1. Reese says...

Great gift guides but i much preferred the previous guides which showed the price also instead of having to click on the link.

  2. Hannah says...

I have to get that flip clock! I commute to and from Philly’s 30th St Station, and we lost our flip train board this year. I’m still sad that I don’t get to hear the glorious sounds of the board after each train departure, and this clock may just replace that!

  3. Maria says...

CoJ gift guides are always the best, but the titles? gosh, they are GLORIOUS! Thank you, Joanna!!!

  4. Sara says...

Uh oh, fell down the rabbit hole after seeing that hot fudge! Now I’ve ordered a jar for each kid (vegan for my dairy-free son) and kept shopping until I knocked out all my candy/food stocking stuffers in one fell swoop!!! THANK YOU, CoJ Gift Guides!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

i’m so glad! you’ll love it!

  5. maywyn says...

Great list, love the half zip
Count my vote for your brother’s sauce recipe. Add a best bread with sauce, please.
I saw on a TV show’s credits recently an Eric Goddard. Is he your bro? (I always try to read credits, even when they go by too fast.)

  6. Leeza says...

I wonder why almost all gift guides (not just this one, of course) fall along gender binary for adults. I can’t imagine CoJ doing a guide for “little girls” and “little boys” so it’s strange to see siblings, parents, and partners divided when I’m sure these charming gifts would be welcome by any gender. It would be heartening to see these organized by metrics like personality traits or interests and would make them even more personal.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

thank you for your note! i’ve always done them based on the people in my life — my own mom, dad, brother, sister, etc — and so they’re guided by their actual personalities (for example, my sister is super outdoorsy, and my mom is a big cook). i hope that helps!

    • LMS says...

I feel exactly the same way, thank you for articulating it. I appreciate and understand Jo’s response but as a non-binary person, it still just makes me feel weird. I know that the gender binary exists, but it already exists in so many places – does it have to apply to gift guides too?

    • Liz B says...

MEC did a really great job at gift guides this year… including; “Gifts for kids”, “Gifts for them”. I ordered most of my gifts from mec.ca Vote with your money :)

  7. At first I read “For your brother who makes amazing tomato jokes . . .”

  8. Karin says...

Love the keychains but they charge $104 shipping for a $6 keychain to the UK! Shame!!!

  9. Jennifer says...

Oh I gave my dad the Coop’s chocolate and caramel sauces last year and he LOVED THEM. He doesn’t drink, has all the tools he needs, and rarely watches tv. But ice cream he likes. Good gifts.

  10. freya says...

this list made me wish I had a little brother to buy gifts for :)

  11. Ro says...

This is so perfect! I can imagine myself getting each and every one of these things for my little brother. What is it with them and half zip fleece jackets, cooking items, and travel bags? haha

  12. Bailey says...

OK I’m dying to know. When you do gift guides, do you actually purchase those items for that person? Like, does it ruin the surprise for your whole family?? Surely you keep some gifts aside as a secret?!

  13. Fabulous ideas! My little brother makes his own tomato sauce too (but I still think mine is better :) )

  14. Jen says...

What is his amazing tomato sauce recipe? Would he share :)

    • celeste says...

Here to say the same. My brothers and I don’t exchange gifts so living vicariously through ya’ll. :)

  15. These are such cute ideas, thank you!

  16. Cali says...

I hadn’t thought of coop’s as a gift but it’s basically perfect for everyone.

  17. Kara says...

Anyone else go on a deep dive of Marlon Brando in Google Images after seeing that cover?? Hubba, hubba! 😆

  18. Owl says...

The Contender! I love a good biography. So while my brothers might not care for it, might buy this one for myself! Ha!!

  19. Elizabeth says...

Thank you. I have 4 brothers and rarely see articles/gift guides for brothers. :) Museum passes would be great. Any recommendations on specialty bourbons?

    • Elizabeth R says...

Corsair Distillery out of Nashville or Hudson Bourbon.

  20. Wendy says...

Coop’s also makes THE BEST salted caramel sauce!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

      Yes!!!

  21. Maryann says...

We love Wits and Wagers. Its a great game for all ages and is pretty hilarious.

  22. jade says...

Every year my family buys a new board game. Wits and Wagers might just be the ticket this year.

  23. Sarah says...

What I’m gathering from Joanna’s response is that her brother is a spy, just like her dad. ; )

  24. Christina says...

P.S. if little brother is still single, there is nothing hotter than a man with a museum membership!!!! Pull out that card on a date and you’re almost guaranteed a second!
    Great list as always!!! xo

  25. lisa says...

the key chain is great! i need it for myself :-)

  26. alison says...

Joanna – Where does your brother live now? I remember him from the early blog days!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

thanks for asking! he’s super private so i’m not allowed to share where he lives. but i can say that it’s too far away from me :)

    • China says...

Just a heads up that flip clock is not ideal for next to a bed because it makes a tiny little sound with every flip :) It’s fine if there’s some white noise but not great if you like to sleep in a very quiet room!

    • Alison says...

oh good! Hope he is well.

    • Liz says...

Adding on to Allison’s comment to say that I remember your brother helped come up with the name for this site!

So funny to think that even though he played such a important role we know nothing about him. He must be very private, which is totally understandable, but I’m definitely curious about him :)

I imagine he’s like you, Joanna, except instead of giving good suggestions to people online, he gives good suggestions to people face-to-face :)
