What are your go-to travel shoes? Since they can be bulky and heavy to pack, and you want them to be as comfortable as possible for days of adventures, it always feels essential to bring the right pair. Here are three styles the Cup of Jo team won’t leave home without…
“Birkenstocks are the ultimate comfort sandals. For travel, I especially love the $40 rubber-like ones. They’re waterproof, so they work for the pool and beach, as well as shopping and dinners. They’re almost weightless, and if they get dirty, they’re easy to wash under running water. They come in a million different colors — black, white, coral, even metallic. When traveling, I usually wear neutral clothing, so these are a really fun way to add a pop of color with an outfit.” — Kim
“Any time I pack heels, I never end up wearing them. But sometimes on trips, you need a pair of able-to-dress-up shoes, for romantic dinners out or lunches with in-laws. Enter jazzy flats. These leopard mules are super comfy and easy to slip on. They take up zero space in your luggage (you can even pack them with the heel of one slipped into the toe of the other). Plus, in the words of the great Jenna Lyons, “leopard is a neutral,” so you can trust they’ll go with anything.” — Caroline
“I’m a broken record about Converse, but they’ve been my trusty travel shoes for years. Before, I used to hesitate to pack sneakers, since I didn’t want to look like the tourist wandering around with my sneakers and map. But then we went to Paris and Rome, and every woman was wearing either these or Stan Smiths, and they looked amazing. And, of course, sneakers are big in New York. Slim white sneakers pair well with everything — jeans, skirts, dresses. Plus, if you want more arch support, you can add an insole and walk for miles.” — Joanna
What shoes do you always pack? (These are so great, too.) Would love to hear…
P.S. How to pack without wrinkles and the one thing I never travel without.
