Are you going on vacation this summer? Every two years, we go to Cornwall to visit my grandmother. All the aunts, uncles and cousins pile in, and we eat our weight in fried fish and salt-and-vinegar potato chips. Luckily, we’re heading there in a couple weeks and are already pulling out the suitcases. Here are three things I pack for any trip…
1. A denim jacket. What is it that is so cute about jackets? The collar is so flattering, and you can pull one over dresses on cool evenings or in air-conditioned airports. Here’s the chore jacket pictured above, and I love this lighter version, too.
2. A black jumpsuit. Jumpsuits always feel pulled together for travel and walks (or running around with two rowdy kids); and you can dress one up for dinner with lipstick. This slouchy fit is perfect, and here’s a similar one for less. Also, this number would look cute with a braid and sandals.
3. A good book. One of life’s greatest pleasures is getting lost in a book on a vacation, don’t you think? My friend Linsey just devoured Educated — a coming-of-age memoir about a girl who was born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho — and raved about it. Have you read it? Can’t wait to dig in.
What do you pack for trips? Will you be traveling anywhere this summer? Curious to hear!
