Heart-filled Perfection
This is just so beautiful on so many levels. Love it and thanks for sharing : )
I absolutely love these images every Friday. Mari should make them into a book. Pen x
This is so cool! I have always imagined myself as a house. When my mind ruminates on the past and bad ways I think my mind is in the basement. When I’m in the present moment I’m on the first floor then I’m in different bedrooms (master or kids) bedrooms I’m mentally with the members of my family. And when I’m in the attic I’m thinking ahead into the future. It’s when I’m out on the porch looking up at a galaxy of stars that I’m meditating and I am free from my identification with myself. and I walk out into the unknown thats when i know who I am.
I think I need a big box for heartbreak and disappointment *sniff*
Beautiful. Sweet and warming x
Love this!! Feels the heart up :)
I love her work every week, but this one is my favorite yet.
love this! you’re making me feel all the feels this afternoon. :)
Wow. I need this framed and hanging on a wall. Beautiful.
This is so beautiful! I really wish I could buy this as a print. I would love to see it everyday :)
Sad but true. When we go through the hard stuff in life, it’s what makes us empathetic/tough/hardworking and what makes us appreciate all the good stuff in life.
I love the table where hopes and disappointments are shared!
Mari’s posts are fantastic! Love these
Mari, you are part of my fully furnished heart!
I just pre ordered her book!
Just lovely – it made my day! Attic def. my favorite
To echo the others what a touching illustration.
I just listened to the episode of Out There podcast with Mari Andrew’s story. Just, wow. She is so talented and I just love her for her heart, and this heart.
Echoing others – I would LOVE to buy a print of this. I would really like to give it to my sisters. Any chance of a special limited COJ edition???
I love these!! I follow Mari on instagram, and love her style as much as her illustrations. I’d love to see CoJ do a Week of Outfits starring Mari– pretty please!!!
This reminds me of another post when you talked about having “mental furniture.” I’ve never forgotten that! As an introvert (and Enneagram 4 w/ a 5 wing and INFJ on Myers Briggs…if you want to go there), my favorite place is my mind/heart/inner life. I’ve furnished it with beautiful memories, songs, books, places visited, warm friendships, etc. I love to go there and see all the wonderful things or just muse on life. I like how Mari includes the basement and the rough feelings, too!
We are the same for both personality types! As an INFJ and 4 wing 5, I really appreciated that a “fully furnished” heart includes the happy stuff, the hard/sad stuff, and the to-be-determined stuff.
Thank you Joy! Just yesterday I was looking for the post where Joanna was writing about getting older. I searched for “age” “aging” and I don’t know what else, but that article just did not pop up. Then I read your comment mentioning the “mental furniture” and I knew that was it. So now I could re-read those beautiful thoughts (I was looking for it for someone who just turned 40). So again, thank you for unknowingly helping this forgetful mind. This blog is something quite special!
This one is definitely my favorite! Would totally buy this as a print!
This made me tear up. Mari Andrew, you’re a national treasure!
Oh my gosh, same here.
I’m a counselor and would LOVE to use this as an exercise with clients. It’s lovely how the heart can’t be fully furnished without the basement. The window and kitchen table are my favorite parts.
What a lovely metaphor!! Mari, you really nailed this one!!!
Joining all the others in wondering how she does it. This is my favorite one yet, what a beautiful pull at the heartstrings (coming from a box somewhere at the top of my heart, perhaps?)
I’m doing some spring cleaning: moving the “relationships on the mend” to the ground floor. Grounding myself, this year, in the relationships that deserve to be mended.
Mari, you get it. And your work gets me every time. Thank you for all you do for this world!
This gave me the chills – I would love to buy a print of this to frame and hang on my wall.
We are all so lucky to have Mari Andrew.
This is perfect! I love how wonderfully it captures life – even if we don’t all have exactly the same boxes!
favorite yet!!!
This is my favorite illustration from Mari yet (which is saying a lot because coming to CofJ to see these in one of the highlights of my Fridays)!
I love this! The basement of my heart is what holds up the rest of it. It is the foundation.
I would love to be able to purchase a print of this! Anyone know if her art is available to buy?
She doesn’t sell prints right now ( I’ve definitely looked) but she has a book coming out in March and is giving a free print to anyone who pre-orders. I don’t think you can choose which print you get though.
She is just amazing!! Love, love this!!
I love this!
She is so clever, it blows me away!!
Oh my. I love this SO much.
Loveliest yet <3 Mari, you are a gift.
Love this so much!
I don’t know how she does it, but time and again, she puts into an illustration exactly what so many of us feel. It’s lovely.
I love this!I wish we could buy Mari’s illustrations! They are so inspiring!!
Oh my goodness! This is exquisite.
Wow, this is very nice, I like the basement as well: we have a life of ups and downs and it is good to know that and keep it in our hearts.
This is a really lovely start to the weekend :)
This is perfect! I’ve been actively taking note of “thin slices of joy” since that post- noticing and appreciating more sweet moments even before they reach “attic” level. :)
Maybe it just landed on the right day, but this might be my favorite illustration yet.
Totally agree! This is just so sweet and so accurate!
She’s beautiful. This is marvelous. I love how balanced this heart is.
Love this <3
