What are you up to this weekend? Alex and I are going on a daytime date tomorrow. Maybe we’ll ride bikes, maybe we’ll have brunch, who knows?!! As Pilar Guzman once said, “Nothing like walking around on a Saturday to make you feel unencumbered. There’s a lot of pressure at night not to yawn.” Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web…

When you see yourself first thing in the morning.

Does anyone actually like holding hands? Made me laugh.

Four weeknight dinners, including salad pizza.

This winter, I’ve been wearing these jeans and this sweater non-stop.

Who’s up for a Scandinavian road trip?

Can’t stop watching Russian ballet classes on Instagram. (Oh my gosh, the girl in the middle.)

New erotica for feminists.

The dessert Ina Garten is making for Valentine’s Day.

Feeling blocked? Play with blocks.

A eucalyptus-scented tattoo.

A billionaire’s daily breakfast allowance.

Also, a reader named Katherine asked for rental recommendations around NYC. Here are a few we’ve bookmarked over the years:
This wonderful house in Woodstock, New York. (Firepit and kids’ toys!)
A cozy cabin near Hudson, NY. (We stayed here last weekend.)
This cute duplex in Greenport, NY. (Love the North Fork.)
A Victorian family home in Beacon, NY. (Close to Dia: Beacon.)
Please let me know if you’d like more, and I’d be happy to share!

Plus, three great reader comments:

Says Megan on a fun birthday present: “For my mom’s 60th, my dad flew my husband, our six-month-old daughter and me to Kansas to surprise her. My sister picked us up at the airport, and we drove to my parents’ house. We put the baby, in her car seat, on the front steps, rang the bell and hid behind the bushes. I will never forget my heart pounding as I watched my mom open the front door at 9 p.m., and look around very confused, until she finally saw the baby. Then, of course, she burst into tears and we jumped out of the bushes yelling, ‘Surprise!’ It is a golden memory.”

Says Meg on the best parenting advice: “One evening, I was driving home with my three-year-old in the backseat. In the quiet car, my mind was racing with the worries of today and task lists of tomorrow. Suddenly he shrieked with delight, laughed and cheered with his arms above his head. Scared the crap out of me, at first! But then I realized we’d just gone through a tunnel on the freeway, and he thought it was the most thrilling thing that had ever happened to us. I spent the rest of the evening with gratitude in my heart for that little guy. It was many years ago now, and I still think of that moment often – reminding myself to look up to notice the good around us. Freeway tunnels, ice cream cones, hugs and all the rest.”

Says Allison on Nicole Bruno’s week of outfits: “Now Cup of Jo readers will forever recognize each other in public by our Nicole Bruno haircuts! It’ll be like a secret handshake. (I, too, showed this post to my hairstylist and promptly got an appointment on the books.)”
