Lately, every Brooklyn boutique I walk into — or street style photo I see on Instagram — seems to feature mustard, pink or both. And I have to say, I LOVE IT. The colors are somehow cozy and cool at the same time. Here are a few favorite pieces…

I just bought the velet gold madewell pants, I was super bummed out on the quality! I see they’re completely sold out now. I hate how you cannot tell the quality of an item when buying online. I’m returning them, although the color is gorgeous :(

love mustard yellow but it isn’t very flattering on me. and that pink… too washed out for my skin. i bought those earrings and returned them because I was looking for statement and they just faded into my face.
A future post idea: Here’s how Madewell is killing it. Maybe an interview with someone behind the brand? Their creative process? How they identify and develop trends? Or a style icon post with their creative director? I swear they’re in every style post and I don’t think I’m the only one obsessed with them rn so maybe others would find it interesting, too. ;) Great post, as always!
Hi! Don’t mean to sound like I’m lecturing, but I think this is important. So respectfully: all Madewell is killing is legit designers/artists businesses. Season after season steal ideas from legit independent designers and mass produce it to undercut their prices (and continue destroying the environment). Please consider looking into more ethical sources for your clothing!! There are more ethical brands out there than ever right now. And many of them live and work and employ in the US.
I’d mix either with olive or burgundy to work with my skin tone. *looks down* Hey, I’m kind of doing it. Olive blouse, Everlane jeans (jury still out on highwaisted style but the denim is very nice quality) and some blush suede sandals. When in doubt, put the color on your feet!
those colors don’t work for me (very pale 59-year-old with grey and dirty-blonde fuzzy-duckling hair), but they look pretty as shown. while I’d choose different colors, that first outfit (long skirt, oversized sweater and sneakers) is totally my style. thanks for more inspiration!
Mustard yellow is definitely my signature color. I have a yellow fall coat and a multiple yellow purses. If I could afford it – I would buy a mustard yellow mini cooper. Then I’d be the woman that everyone refers to as “You know that crazy woman who’s always in yellow?”. I’m thrilled to see it’s a trend – which means I’m going to have to do some serious shopping in the next couple of months!
Also – here’s a tip for everyone who says they love the color but it looks terrible on them: buy a skirt that color. Then it’s not up against your face and washing you out.

I like the pink sweater with the ruffles, and I have quite a few pink things in my wardrobe. I wear pink whether or not it’s the “in” color. I’m not really crazy about mustard.
Iāve noticed this too! And I love it :) Iām a pretty conservative when it comes to wearing color combinations, but I love these colors together!
I will pass on both these colors – neither compliment my skin tone! My coloring is similar to the model in the “millennial pink” bomber jacket (pale skin, dark hair) and she can’t even pull off that color, in my opinion.

I love mustard yellow! I can’t wear it often because of my skin tone, but I’ve found I can wear an open cardigan. I guess because the color isn’t so close to my face to cast that yellowish hue.
These are probably the only shades of pink I’m fond of! I also love that mustard colour, I wish I had more of it in my wardrobe. I really love your picks, especially the bomber sweatshirt, turtleneck, and those sneakers! (To die for.) But aside from the colours, you forgot to mention the abundance of suede, velvet, and knitwear. Hahaha. x

I went to a baby shower last week and three of us were wearing mustard yellow! I live in hot hot San Antonio, so fall is here in name only, but I still like to switch up the colors I wear at least. That Zara top is perfect.
Ha! I live in Houston and it’s the same. My “fall” clothes are shorts and breezy dresses in fall colors and darker nail polish. I love (and wear) millennial pink but I don’t think it reads as a fall color here, and I look hideous in mustard, which makes me sad because I love it.

I look awful in any shade of yellow, so the mustard trend is not for me — I have one millennial pink bodysuit that makes me feel like a ballerina, though, which I love.

Fun to see this color combo featured. My Oct 10 wedding two years ago had a color palette of pale pink (even my dress), mustard/gold, and navy. I was a little nervous to see how it would actually play out, but it was perfect!

I adore mustard and pink. I’m so pleased they’re in style right now. I look fabulous in pinks but yellows are tough for me with my skin tone but if it’s mustardy enough I can pull off a more brown mustard color.
I adore yellows and mustard, too, but I wear them on the bottom because I look deathly with them next to my face. I have mustard colored jeans and I do love wearing them with a pale pink cardi I have.

Yes! I’ve been completely in love with marigold for about a year now which is so unusual for me since I’m a black, blue, grey and other neutrals kind of gal usually. But for some reason I can’t get enough of this color. Just found a vintage silk gold tunic/blouse at a consignment shop that I can’t wait to wear. I like the pale pink too but for some reason, am more hesitant to purchase it, probably because I just know it’ll get stained. Life with kids and dogs! haha!
