I’m only turning 18 but I completely agree. It’s easy to feel like you ~*know stuff*~ at any age, but then as time goes on, you look back and think, man that was nothing!

When my kids were at certain ages, they amazed with their surety about all things. For years I’d say, “It must be a marvelous thing to be 12 (or 14, 16…and so forth) and know absolutely everything!”

This is one of the things I loved most about teaching social studies to high school seniors. Introducing them to really big global issues at a time in life where they felt like they already knew everything was powerful – they were just at the tipping point of realizing how much there was to learn about the world.
This is so true! I went back to school at 42 (three years ago) and I have found it so much more fun to be in school at this age because there is SO much more I want to learn and know. : )

So true! I always say I knew a lot more about raising kids before I had them.
So true! When I was a very opinionated (read: obnoxious) college student my Dad used to joke, “Yeah, when I was 19 I knew everything, too.” It really set me off. Now I laugh about it! He was right – the older you get the more aware you are of your own ignorance and the many grey areas of the world. I’m in the green ring now :)
Me too. Being almost 34 makes me realize I didn’t know a lot when I was 18, like I thought I did.
YES! If only we’d actually listened to our parents as teenagers….this just shows that is never going to happen
