Have a Beautiful Weekend

What are your plans this weekend? We’re going to dinner at this little place, and I’m also going to brainstorm some indoor activities (Hide & Seek? Guess Who?) since it’s supposed to rain a lot. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web…

Feeling inspired by this simple dinner party.

Boo! My boys are flipping out over these temporary tattoos.

A beginner’s guide to meditation. (“Your brain’s gonna go nuts, and that’s fine.”)

LOVE these paintings.

The app that puts you to sleep.

The absolute minimum acceptable tip for any food delivery.

Nude bras for all!

Crown, the Netflix original drama about Queen Elizabeth, looks really compelling. Here’s the trailer.

Good to remember: “We can’t spare our children normal social pain.”

How to email very, very quickly. (Also, busted.)

It’s finally SWEATER SEASON!!!!

Good advice, haha.

If you love public libraries, consider going to this awesome event on October 21st. You’ll have drinks, meet fun people, do some dancing and support libraries all around the borough. xoxo

Also, a comment from a reader named Jess: “My dad has a sixth sense for bad days, even if you’re trying to hide it. His answer was always the perfect fried egg sandwich. Quality bread, lots of mayo and the ideal egg, yolk runny enough to drip down your chin. When I was little, he’d make me one in the middle of the night if a had a nightmare like it was the most normal thing in the world. When I was sixteen, I went to a party to meet my crush and told my parents I was staying at a girlfriend’s house. At the party, I found my crush kissing another girl. I took a cab home at 2 a.m. smelling like keg and my parents certainly knew something was up. My dad could have questioned me about my lie, he could have yelled at me, but he just read my face and went straight for the kitchen. That was maybe the best fried egg sandwich I ever ate.”

Says Patrice: “My world has been flipped upside down since I found the podcast My Favorite Murder two weeks ago — I can’t do anything these days except listen to the podcast. I have started taking my dog on two-hour walks because I just can’t get enough. And I’m already getting sad thinking about how it will be when I catch up and I’ll have to wait for a new episode each week. I wanna be BFFs with Karen and Georgia.”
