When I saw the link “8 parents, 1 Shower,” I thought it was going to be about two sets of divorced/remarried parents all coming peaceably together for their childrens’ wedding/baby shower. Then I clicked and was like, oh, a literal shower. LOL

What did you think of Beat Bugs?? I was so excited to watch but was disappointed. The way they incorporated the music didn’t feel organic to me at all. I only watched a couple episodes so maybe I need to give it another shot, but the first impression was very underwhelming.

Off the back of the Elle piece you linked to – “Why is it still considered controversial not to have kids?” I’d love to know the answer to this question of my own – Why is it considered controversial to want to have kids young?

I’m recently married (26) and my husband and I have decided that next year (when I’m 27 and he’s 31) we’ll start trying to have a baby.

But wow, the looks of horror we’ve received. “Really? So soon,” they say, horrified. I think, why delay? We’ve been together 8 years and want have kids one day.

As a two time mum Joanna, what are your thoughts this? Is 27 too young? Is there ever a “perfect” time to have kids?

I know wallpaper is making a comeback and this one looks beautiful.
The colors, textures and prints out there are amazing.
But the thought of taking it down when I get tired of it, still turns me away from getting it. :(

Wow, I just watched/read the Simone Biles feature. Incredible.

I am so excited to not only watch Simone Biles compete, but share and idolize her talents with my first grade students! She’s going to be a hero for this generation of young gymnasts, dancers, and playground tumblers.

Simone is from my home town and went to my high school (go Bearkats!). I know her older brother. Super excited to cheer her on!

Also I bought a cherry potter from Amazon – Life. Changing. (My six year old says cherries are his favorite food but he’s scared of the seeds…)

Love the article about why it’s still controversial to not have kids. I am personally SO sick of having to talk about this and answer questions about it. My husband and I are perfectly happy just the 2 of us, I have my own business that I love, WHY I am I less than female? Or And if one more person says “You still have time” or “You’ll change your mind” I swearta God…

Joanna, I like the dress you said you were wearing. I know it looks good on you. I say make some gazpacho (you can used canned tomatoes), a big pasta salad, some good bread, wine, and fresh melon or other fresh fruit for dessert. I put shrimp or imitation crab in my pasta salad, but you can serve the seafood on the side in case anyone has allergies. I don’t have recipes, I just fly by the seat of my pants. You can do all this ahead of time, and enjoy your guests. I like refreshing meals this time of year.
