A reader named Molly recently wrote in with a (funny) question:
I’m relocating to Manhattan after spending two years in Los Angeles, and now that I’m apartment hunting and going on job interviews, my feet are ruined after just two weeks! A friend suggested I do the Elevator Switch (wear sneakers from point A to B and then put on heels during the elevator ride up). So my trusty New Balances have been my go-to. Then sadly, I caught sight of myself in a black pencil dress with my NB Fresh Foams, and I realized that I looked less “editor at New York Fashion Week” and more Melanie Griffith in Working Girl. So, I am dying to know what shoes you really wear every day. Thank you!
Our answer: Everlane shoes have become our uniform. Here’s how we wear them…
FOR COMMUTING: The Street Shoe will be your very best friend. They’re as comfy as your oldest sneakers, but the pointed shape keep them feeling urban — not like you’re coming from the gym. Perfect for long walks and weekends.
The Street Shoe comes in multiple colors in leather, nubuck and woven.
FOR WORK: The Modern Loafer is the perfect shoe for work. You can dress them down with jeans and a flannel, or dress them up with a dress and tights. We love how they look like men’s shoes yet have a graceful shape and stacked heel. They make you feel instantly pulled together.
The loafers are now available in eight colors in leather and shiny patent leather.
FOR PLAY: The newest addition to the Everlane shoe family is the Chelsea Boot, which just launched today. They’re the ideal bootie (Caroline is obsessed): comfortable to walk in, with a low heel and streamlined shape that feels modern and sexy. Our favorite part: They’re fitted around the ankle, which means they never look bulky and tucking them into jeans is a breeze.
The boot comes in four pretty colors.
Last but not least, Everlane offers one-hour delivery (!) in NYC and San Francisco. So you could even wear them tonight, if you’d like. ;)
Thank you so much, Everlane!
P.S. A note about fit: For all of their styles except the Chelsea Boot, Everlane recommends ordering a half size up. The Chelsea Boot runs true to size.
