Have a Fun Weekend.

What are your plans this weekend? This week has been busy (and a little stressful) for a number of reasons, so I’m looking forward to relaxing. We’re also throwing an early birthday party for Toby on Sunday. He’s technically turning five next week (!), although of course you and I both know that he’s secretly still a tiny newborn. Playground purgatory! I am reading this at work and DYING with muffled laughter. I don’t even have a child but this has been the highlight of my day!

I got a pair of “steals” from forever21 for $12. Must say they aren’t that comfortable but for $12 they work.

The vacation fantasy house, though, does not accept toddlers or pets, though children and babies are ok. So weird!

Joanna, I just wanted to tell you how much the post on deciding whether or not to have a baby meant to me! I’m 28, married 5 years, and leaning towards not having kids. But the decision has been shockingly hard, and my feelings have been so ambivalent and weird and complicated, and it feels like no one ever talks about that. Seemingly everyone I know either knows they want to have kids or that they don’t; no one ever seems to talk about it as an active *decision.* So thank you so much! This post was so timely. <3

As a Dutchie who’s lived in the US almost 9 years and is about to become an American citizen, I like Toby’s pants, but I like his shirt even more (Hup Holland!) Outfit inspiration for the oath ceremony?! :)

congrats on becoming a citizen! will you be dual now? i remember when my dad became a US citizen when we were growing up — we all went to the ceremony, and it was incredibly listening to people’s stories about how/why they were becoming citizens and, at times, the trials it took.

we’re planning 3 weeks in the US, the kids will stay with a friend and go to day camp, practise their English and other fun skills, while my husband and I will travel New England, and then the four of us will spend a few days in Montreal, can’t wait!!!
I WILL watch Mad Men’s finale, one of my very favorite shows, still, and I can’t wait to see what happens to all my favorite characters (Don, Joan and Peggy, Sally)
THat Purgatory Playground thing was so funny, and for these poor US moms, I just have 2 words: Pamela Druckerman, baby!!
