I have pumpkin costumes for my baby and my dog! Can’t wait! :)
I wore a costume just like the baby’s to kindergarten and all the kids said I was a tomato and I cried, the end.
I honor your pumpkin-ness and I would’ve fought them for you as a combative 5.5 year old. Probably best I wasn’t there.
Similar story but I was mistaken for a carrot.
Babies in pumpkins is truly a delight- I told one of my friends last year they had to carve out a pumpkin and plop their baby in it for a photoshoot and the pictures that came out of it is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. May I also submit babies in knitted pumpkin hats as a daily option for the autumn, my mum knits them for everyone’s kids and she calls the iphone photo album of the kiddos wearing them her “little pumpkin patch” – it is adorable.
Not a comment on this post per se, but what is going on with the website? There’s some kind of error where the second and third articles are all squished together with no titles and its hard to see or read them.
we will look into this! we just did a back-end update
PUMPKIN-ING BABIES FOREVER!!
Squirrels joyfully nibbling on pumpkins! I realize this may be polarizing, but both my boys as toddlers delighted when we put a pumpkin on our back porch, just for us to see, and they’d watch the squirrels come and feast. A tip from experience if you don’t want your uncarved, decorative pumpkins nibbled – cut a hole in the back for access. Front is more likely to stay tidy while squirrels sneak into the back for seeds.
Oh my goodness! That is brilliant! Thank you for saving my pumpkins!
Impossible choice! How could you pick just one?
My 2 year old is loving pumpkin season those year and every time we see one anywhere he yells “PUNKMAN” at the top of his little lungs and now I’m arranging my schedule for maximum pumpkin sightings
Write this down to tell him about when he’s bigger! My nine-year-old used to call a pumpkin a “pumkiss” when she was about two, and hearing me talk about it is now one of her favorite things.
Annually my hubs is the pumpkin carving/decorating champion while I’m the pumpkin muffin (blue ribbon family recipe), pumpkin pudding (search Martha Stewart ramekin styled) maker.
Happy to share the muffin recipe here if interested. 🎃
Please do share!
pumpkin muffins
12 standard muffin tin or 6 jumbo muffin tin
1-3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
11/2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground mace-secret ingredient
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/3 cup water
Preheat oven to 350°. Butter and flour a muffin tin or use tall muffin papers. These muffins rise!
Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon and mace. In another bowl beat together the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, pumpkin puree and water. Add to the flour mixture and beat until the batter is combined. Divide batter into the prepared muffin cups. Bake in center rack of a preheated oven for 30-40 minutes depending on tin size used and toothpick comes out clean. Let the muffins cool completely before removing from tin.
Enjoy!

Thank you Hillary R! I was just looking for a recipe to use up a can of pumpkin today and ta-da, here you are to the rescue. So generous of you to include your secret ingredient too!
Thank you, Hillary!
Woohoo! Thank you for this!
:) tough choices!
Our neighbors planted pumpkins in their front yard this year. We walk past daily and enjoy watching them size up. With a few weeks more to grow, they are going to be giants!
I highly recommend the children’s novel ‘Seed’ by Caryl Lewis about a boy and his grandfather growing a giant pumpkin… and the adventures that ensue. I’d say 8-11 age range.
Babies in costumes are just too much! I love it so much I can’t take it! Dogs as well. Who ever thought to put a costume on a dog? Genius.
Loving all kind of pumpking, are perfect for an entire autumnal menu (froma ppetizer till cake)
The sweetest thing about my local buy nothing group is that every October there’s at least one baby-sized pumpkin getting passed around for photos. Someone starts it and then posts a photo of their baby in the pumpkin to pass the pumpkin to it’s next home. Every time it’s passed we all get to enjoy a new, sweet baby in a pumpkin photo :)
This is delightful!
Aww, this reminds me of Ashley C. Ford’s annual cry, pumpkin those babies!!! She has an Instagram highlight for pumpkin’d baby pics shared by others with her, right next to her wedding pics hahaha – https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18142780018096944/
Hahahahaha she’s the best
I’ll take one of each please!
Yes! It’s impossible to choose!
Pumpkin seeds!! Leftover seeds from everyone’s jack-o’lanterns. Give them to me! Spread out on a baking sheet, sprinkle with seasonings, bake in the oven ‘until crunchy. Oh my goodness. Those are some of my best memories.
