By the great Grace Farris.
P.S. Registries that should exist and ways to say I love you.
Ha ha, the last couple spoke to me :D
This is soooo funny. Hanukka started last night and already my oldest is frustrated putting something (which guaranteed will end up underfoot) together! My youngest is about to get underwear for a present tonight. This is seriously perfect
Unrelated, but I’d love to see you guys interview moms on how they decided whether/how much to post pictures of their children on social media accounts. I’m a new mom and I’m struggling to come to terms with the privacy of child v. the desire to share ALL Of her pictures because she’s the cutest.
Agreed! Don’t have a kid yet, but totally think about this. Intellectually, I would want my kid completely absent on my social media. Emotionally, I’m going to think they are the cutest thing in the entire world and want to show my friends/family.
I’m sure everyone approaches this differently, so here’s how I did it: I have a four week-old and made one vague post last month on social media – with a photo – announcing that the baby is here and that we’d appreciate to hear from people “the old-fashioned way” since we don’t plan to post any more baby updates. The post did not mention the birthday, sex, or name. Then I made a couple of texting and WhatsApp groups to share photos with select family and friends every so often. Of course, the in-laws get daily updates!
tinybeans is like posting to a social media account but its a closed group (and photo storage service!) so you control who has access.
We choose not to put much about our kids on social media, but we use an app called Tinybeans for sharing daily photos with only our close contacts. It’s been great!!
Don’t forget the box cutter, screwdriver, and paper cuts to get the thing out of the box too!
The paper cuts!
Something to throw at the TV when Trump keeps appearing.
COJ Team, A few years ago you wrapped up year-end with a “what did you learn this year?” column. I loved that and the Comments, as usual. Would like to see similar for 2020. Surely we stretched ourselves to new places in some good ways? Thanks and happy holidays!
great idea, Anna! we’re on it!
Great point Anna! Even though I was home with school aged kids more than ever before, I daydreamed about advancing my career. I don’t know if it was a serious case of grass is greener or not liking my current role. I’m taking an online certificate in digital marketing starting Jan. 11. Let’s kick this year off!
Yess would love to see this post, it’s been such an unusual year
Ha Ha! “Something to step on in the middle of the night.” Great one, Grace!
every parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle/caregiver knows that feeling!!
