By the wonderful Grace Farris.
P.S. Books I could write and becoming an adult.
These cards are my new favorite for these covid times. Humor and heart.
I love these! My husband and I were separated for the first ten weeks of lockdown and the restrictions here in Italy were very tight so getting to the post office was really tricky. So I downloaded a postcard making app on my phone and each week sent him a postcard of a different “view” in our apartment; the bookcase with the plant on it, the fridge door, the cats asleep on the sofa. It was really fun choosing the “view” of normal life each week and helped keep him feeling like he was here when he wasn’t able to be.
The “torpor of despair” is too real, hahahaha.
How about “If I don’t get to hold my new granddaughter, or hug my other grandkids, I might just as well die of Covid-19.”
As an avid letter-writter, this might be favourite of Grace’s yet. I work for a company that had a very “sensible” uniform even before the pandemic hit. Now, with the mandatory mask, I’m something of a black hole with two eyes towards the top. It’s provided excellent self-portrait fodder for signing off letters to the parents. ?
I also think we need a greeting card that says “Congratulations on finishing the dishes again.” :)
Love these! I just saw another great card idea: fun postcards made of seed paper that the recipient can plant after reading. It’s a Canadian company, but I believe they ship duty free to US. I love how creative people are!

My foot peel is going great! I am so pleased! I was supposed to get a pedicure with a friend the week everything closed down. Alas.
So funny. Yes, foot peel time. I gave some to my teens and actually found out I could use theirs right after they are done with it – it worked and even though with don’t share foot stuff for sanitary reasons, I figure the chemical peel just kills everything. I ordered things in March that still haven’t arrive so pandemic times, let’s make things work.
I just did a foot peel and was wondering if other people had, too! How does Grace know?? nymag and other outlets haven’t written about it and I have been waiting!
For those of you looking to send a quarantine card to friends and family, I’ve recently purchased really cute post cards from a small business that say “Greetings from My Couch.” She has an Etsy shop and is offering free shipping!
I just ordered some of these! What fun! Thank u for the tip, Juyoung!
I just ordered some, too! Thanks!
Maybe I missed this but did your kids come home to you, Grace? Cannot imagine how hard that is!
Check out her insta stories – they came home a couple weeks ago. Honestly, in the realm of “stuff happening to people I don’t actually know,” very few things have ever made me as happy.
Ah ha! Thank you, Jessica! This makes me so happy as well!
I want to print those cards! they are all SO true! Grace Farris is fantastic!
I just did a foot peel last week. How dare you call me out like that, lol!
I look forward to these every week. This one is spot on!
One of the biggest questions I get after our divorce is, Help! how do you break the news to the kids?
