“My preference for Harry or William” hahahaha, nowadays I would say definitely Harry but did you see William when he was in his early 20s… oh my so dreamy dreamy. Lucky Kate!
Swap out bakery for bookshop and Oscar speech for Inauguration speech, and it’s pretty much me. I’m well into my 40’s and still pretty much convinced I’m going to both run a bookshop and run for president…
Things I am sure about today:
My preference for caramel syrup in my drink
Things I am not sure about:
How to make sugar-less caramel syrup
How to eat massive amounts of caramel syrup without gaining weight
The Oscar speech, hahaha ?
Fabulous Mari
Both lists are 100% right now. My thoughts don’t feel so private anymore. ?
This is great, I love that we all have so much doubt in our heads! It makes me feel like I’m not the only one whose a pretend-adult!
Thing I was sure about: what kind of house I wanted to buy, where it would be located and how I would decorate it. Then I met my boyfriend and we looking for a house now and it suddenly dawned on me that we have to compromise. It’s hard to let go of my single’s dream!
PS: Harry :o)
Harry has always been my man, but our names rhyme and we are both gingers… it would never work :(
Harry, without a doubt.
This made me laugh. I know exactly what I’d spend my millions on when I win the lottery; don’t know much about anything else.
Bahaha Heidi me too!!
Things I Feel Totally Sure About:
-Nazism is bad
-Donny Jon is not fit to be president.
ha! i can relate!
Does anyone prefer William to Harry? Is that a thing?
Savage! LOL
I didn’t say anything snarky… why would you censor it?
Ha #facts
MAN this is a truthful one!
Oh my word! I don’t think I’ve ever related to anything more than I relate to that column on the right… Creative, witty and completely real (as usual), Mari<3
When I moved into my new (to me) home in June I decided I wanted it to be a place where people did not doubt how we really felt about them. Being glib and snarky is so easy and safe for a laugh but I want to be always so sincere that there is no fear in the people we love when they leave!
I love this! What a beautiful intention.
Yes!
mari is such a gem! thanks for spreading her brilliance!
I also know exactly what my bakery would look like.
What’s so amazing about this is it’s just a list, and still somehow she makes it into art. She’s just too clever, love her stuff!!!
These are just the best. I love this little series. :)
This makes me shy to admit, but Mari is totally at the top of my baby names list these days!
Mari Andrew is the voice of our generation.
I wholeheartedly agree.
here, here! well said!
Absolutely love her and her incredibly perceptive art. Thank you for introducing her to us.
Sometimes I think I don’t ever truly like the guy I’m dating. I think I get caught in a whirlwind of liking the *idea* of liking him. Does that make sense? In my experience, it’s been hard to veer the relationship past surface attraction to genuine caring, which makes it hard to even have the relationship to begin with, which is also to say–no, I’ve never been serious with anyone. With that being said, and I know I’m kind of going off on a tangent here, but with that being said, I’ve been through enough experiences where it felt like I was losing my mind over nothing that I’m now in a place where I’m not even trying to date. It’s not that I’m giving up on the institution, it’s just that I’m giving up on the *idea* and focusing my energy on my own wellbeing. I firmly believe that we have to accept the possibility of lifetime singlehood before we can regard a romantic partner in a productive, emotionally fulfilling way. That’s just the conclusion I’ve come to. Maybe I’m stating the obvious. I just had to write that out. Thanks, y’all.
I just checked out and subscribed to your cool blog via Feedly, Wren! Lots to chew on there during bus rides. :)
Funny you should say this because this is EXACTLY what I’ve been thinking about. Thanks for articulating that so well!
I love the baby names comment! If you had asked me before I got married, I’d have confidently told you, 100%, that my future children would be Elizabeth and Charlie. But my married last name is brown, so Charlie went right out the window! And when I started to take my husband’s opinion into account, Elizabeth was dunzo too. We have a daughter, Alice, which I love so much I can’t believe it wasn’t my favorite name all along. As for a second baby, we’re stumped! ha! (we’re not even expecting or anything, but it’s a fun conversation!)
My bakery/bookstore, on the other hand… totally planned!
Michael Brown would be a lovely memorial.
Haha, same here. 100% Kate for my future daughter, and then I married a Moss. ;)
HAHA my best friend’s dad is Charlie Brown! Hilarious.
Also her name is Sarah..
I want to know what Mari plans to do when she retires!
omg this is so on point with my feelings today! left the house with my new pink furry pool slides on (no, I am not a kardashian, nor am I 18 years old, I’m almost 35). Kept thinking of the drive in, umm this outfit is tooo crazy. Then I remembered your friend Gemma wearing them and thought about how I don’t want to teach my daughter this type of insecurity, so I wore them!
happy friday!
Love this, Trisha! I’ve totally had those moments…and then I’m like “F$&! it! these are fabulous!”
I love this! Whenever I’m wearing something that’s a little “out there” for me, I remind myself that I’ll never be the weirdest person on the street. It helps me keep perspective.
I really want to know where Mari comes down on the prince issue.
OMG. Baby names all the way. The set has only changed…I think three times ;) But really when you think about how much time I’ve spent thinking about it, that’s not that much.
Team Harry!!
YES!! :) Forever and forever!
Hahaha I love this! I have a list of baby names a mile long and absolutely zero plans to ever procreate.
Haha love your comment Em I totally could have written it!
Harry.
I was practicing my Oscar speech last night. No, I’m not an actress. *sigh* You get me, Mari.
Hah love this!
Things I am sure about: I look forward to these posts every week
Things I am unsure about: What kind of frame I’ll put my Mari Andrew print in when it arrives :-D
Happy weekend everyone :-)
It’s like she’s speaking to my soul! Mari is go great. I love seeing her illustrations here on Fridays. Feels like such a treat- a lovely way to wrap up the work week and start the weekend.
Hahaha accurate!
DYING! This is my life lol. I have been telling my husband for years I want to open a bakery, it’s my dream :) And my future daughters are Genevieve and Juliette (we already have a Josephine, Madeline, Camilla and Evelyn lol!)
Add to things I’m sure about: What I’ll do when I win the lottery.
Me too. I’ve got my potential lottery winnings planned down to the dollar already.
hahaha! I’ve spent a few days thinking about this too, especially after a colleague won $2 million :-O
no way, jo!!!!
I have never bought a lottery ticket in my life but I could tell you how I would spend my winnings for any amount between $300k to several million.
Thanks for the reminder! The Powerball is over $300M for Saturday’s drawing, my mom wanted me to buy a ticket! ;)
New post idea from this: what would you do if you won the lottery?
