If you think Bob’s Red Mill has good brownies, try their gluten free chocolate chip cookie mix. We always make sure to have a huge supply on hand (mix in the cabinet, cookie dough in the fridge/freezer, and cookies in the cookie jar :) for my husband, who has Celiac Disease. THE BEST.

This is what I do about turbulence on flights… I close my eyes and picture myself riding in the backseat of a truck going down a country road. Sometimes I listen to some appropriate road trip music on the headphones. Basically that’s what air turbulence is — it’s not the plane having trouble or anything, it’s just the natural physical thing that happens when your vehicle rumbles along a bumpy patch on a dirt road… Somehow that’s helped me. Your mileage may vary depending on what tends to comfort you; slow measured breathing also helps. :)

I’m going to try the Bob’s Red Mill brownies because I love the Ghirardelli ones. I’ve recently discovered the Trader Joe’s brownies and like them maybe even more than Ghirardelli–but that might just be because you add an entire stick of butter to the mix :/

And I thought I was the only one who gets a thrill from zero-dollar days! Funnily, I started the exact same way — 22, an intern in NYC, spending no money as often as possible out of necessity. Seven years later, my life has changed a lot, but it’s a challenge I issue myself some weekdays (I know I am privileged to say that) and it helps me be mindful to use what I already have — leftover, coffee at home, etc. rather than give in to the urge to spend money in the name of convenience.
