Holy smokes, have you ever tried Lindt Dark Chocolate with a Touch of Sea Salt? You can buy it for around $3 at the grocery store, and it’s delicious. My friend Gemma introduced it to me one night when we were hanging out at her apartment. She has a few squares every night, and now it’s also my go-to treat after the boys are in bed. Chocolate can sometimes be too intense or cocoa-y, but this is perfectly balanced and so good. Just a PSA!
Yep! My favorite is the Ghirardhelli sea salt soiree… sooo good. I don’t love chocolate at night though.. I usually want something more substantial. But it sounds like such a nice treat to have as a nightly routine!
I eat one square every night! I keep it in the fridge – so it’s always fresh and it doesn’t melt…Delicious!
M’y husband just banned it from the House, blaming it for our little growing belly pouch;)
This is also my favorite go-to snack after dinner. I treat myself to two squares every night. It’s low on calories and pairs perfectly with some red wine:)

I can’t buy this anymore because I can buzz through a bar in no time. Now 85% or 90% dark chocolate will stop me dead in my tracks. One square and I’m done.
Yes, we love this one! And the regular 70% is a staple here because we can get a box of the small bars at Costco. And the coconut dark chocolate from Lindt is also worth trying! Oh, and if you like something a touch smoother than 70% dark, try their Madagascar bar. Still dark and not too sweet, but not as bitter. I promise I don’t work for them…but maybe I should ;)
My favorite is Ritter Sport dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts. Also a decent grocery/ drugstore price! Also, since it’s called Ritter SPORT that means it’s really healthy, correct?

I like Ghiradelli’s “Sea Salt Soiree”. I have it with tea almost every night before bed. They also have a hazelnut one that is good. But I just love the name “Sea Salt Soiree” haha.
I’d love to recommend Lagusta’s Luscious chocolate bars as an artisanal alternative that tastes *amazing*** …a lot commercially made chocolate (including Lindt) is made in areas that use child slave labor, and for this reason Lindt is not recommended by the Food Empowerment Project (http://www.foodispower.org/chocolate-list/). This is great chocolate. We melt it into rice pudding with berries, and it tastes amazing!
So interesting to read people’s chocolate go to’s in the comments too! I don’t think we have ‘Trader Joes’ in the UK – is it like Wholefoods? A little off subject but I recently read online that American’s were curious about trying beans on toast, which is such a normal combo here. Love realising little things like that are interesting in other countries!
Trader Joe’s is more inexpensive than Whole Foods. It is more known for its unique snack food, cheap wine, good flowers, and yummy inexpensive frozen food.
Trader Joes is the US branch of German discount supermarket chain Aldi. It’s always funny to me how the supermarket that in Germany is the synonym for dirt-cheap groceries could become a hipster grocery store in the US. (Altough to be fair, they offer slightly different products in the US.) I think you have Aldi in the UK, right?

Beans and toast is one of my absolute favorite breakfasts. I tried it years ago on a trip to England and I miss it. It’s hard to find the right kind of beans here. Also, I’m super excited to try melting this chocolate in rice pudding with berries. What a lovely idea!

My absolute favourite too! I used to have a couple squares every night during the winter, but had to stop because, in all honestly, I often ended up eating the whole bar! So totally worth it though!

There is another in the same Lindt series called Madagascar that is amazing. It’s darker chocolate but mild and with a touch of vanilla. You’d love it!
I lived in Switzerland for 4 years, and although there is nothing more amazing than authentic Swiss chocolate (the kind they don’t export), I always buy this because it’s just so incredible!
I’m Swiss, love dark chocolate and sea salt—and have never tried this. Until tomorrow. I plan to promptly buy every box available….??

I used to love this but skip it now that I’ve committed to only buying fair trade chocolate. Especially since chocolate’s a luxury (even when it feels like a necessity with a toddler and another on the way!), I just started to feel like my pleasure shouldn’t come at great cost to someone else. But there are some fantastic fair trade chocolate options, and increasingly available and affordable ones.

What a coincidence – I was having a loooong day yesterday with my baby and I at home and I really wanted a sugar hit. I remembered I had bought some of this exact choc for my mum as part of a present, so I busted into it and it was SO delicious and just what I wanted (I will have to buy another block for my mum, heehee). It’s not something I would have bought myself previously but now I’m converted.

Yum, I’m also a fan! Brookside also has new chocolate bars (at least new to Candada) and there’s a mango coconut dark chocolate one that is so delicious. One of the few times a free grocery store sample has resulted in an immediate purchase.

I know – it’s a bummer, but ALL of the Lindt chocolate contains artificial flavor (even vanillin). Even Hershey’s recently switched to real vanilla (!), so I have hope that other chocolate makers will, too.
We buy the Lindt 90% cocoa. Crazy, I know, but I’ve found that it grows on you (especially if you don’t buy anything sweeter than that!) and our kids love it!
we have one square of 85% a night – occasionally 2! – I agree that the darker ones grow on you, I find anything less a bit sweet now. They go well with Scotch as well!!
I had a bad salted chocolate experience last Christmas (it was so salty it made me cough), so now I’m always leery of the combo! However, I’ll be brave and try it next trip to the grocery store.
I’ve also become a big fan of the nightly square (or three) of chocolate. My current obsession is their dark chocolate and coconut combo. So good.

I once forgot to pick up wine or snacks from the grocery store on the way to my book club. I ducked into Walgreen’s and grabbed a bag of Lindt’s dark chocolate squares with caramel and sea salt. My friends loved it so much! They enjoyed it more than any homemade hummus I slaved over, or the fancy cheese I dished out $$.
I haven’t tried this one, but Lindt makes excellent chocolates. You must try their truffles! Aldi food stores have some wonderful dark chocolate from Germany. For some reason, the European dark chocolates are really rich and smooth without being bitter. My husband gave me a dark chocolate bar with orange and almond from Aldi as part of my birthday present, and it is amazing. Trader Joe’s has some great chocolate too.

Love this! I love the orange one, too. I get myself this as a treat every once in a while. . . usually while shopping in Target. Target stresses me out, so I need to medicate with chocolate. Lindt is also the perfect thickness.
That said, I practically live off the Trader Joe’s Pound Plus dark chocolate with almonds. Someone else commented on it. It’s $4.99!!! I have 3 squares every morning. Maybe 4. Sometimes 5 :).

I’m from a rural town, so I didn’t discover Lindt until I went on a high school trip to Switzerland!!! That was pretty much all i ate every day (ah, youthful metabolism)! I was so happy to see it was over here when i came back (though I’m sure it’s different, but I’ll take what I can get :P)!
