Its a woman who doesnt have the typical ‘yogi instructor’ body – but preaches the same thing, peace, harmony, and self respect.

Thought you’d enjoyed skimming her instie feed and mentally high fiving her for forgoing societal atrocities of being ‘skinny, beautiful and perfect’ . Truly an amazing woman.

Haven’t read L.B Ames’ parenting books you’ve listed but I do own her “Child Behaviour: The classic child care manual…” and really appreciate it. She focuses on the idea of equilibrium/disequilibrium during the child’s upbringing and it just hits the nail on the head – every time! – for our family and children’s phases. My husband and I read it every 6mo or so to see what might be just over the hill:)

My daughter is now eight years old, and I have been reading these books for years. I find them to be extremely helpful, and highly accurate. After reading them, I feel that I have a better understanding of my child overall. For example, seven years old is typically considered an age where many children experience anxiety. Our daughter who typically isn’t anxious, started to display some of these emotions right after her seventh birthday. I was thankful I had been reading these books to know that it was a healthy part of her development, it gave me a level of understanding that was much needed throughout that year. highly recommended read for every parent!

I am a preschool teacher at a co-op preschool and we love and highly recommend those parenting books. They are great!

I suppose some people could pull off asking for the rest of someone’s desert, but I think it is brash and tacky. Perhaps they were originally planning to bring it home to someone in their family but felt too awkward to refuse the odd request. As a germaphobe and a girl who lived her childhood in England, I can tell you I would never in a million years ask a stranger at a restaurant for their leftover desert!!
I got a kick out the princess and the pea thing…I would have been black and blue in the morning.
The grammar quiz taught me a bit about periods (the kind at the end of the sentence).
I’m in love with the bed linens from the tiny apartment and I like that they had a lot of books. Thanks for the Friday links…I always enjoy exploring them.

I read the Ames books and loved them. They’re fairly detailed or have a lot of information so you can take what applies and disregard what isn’t applicable to your situation. I even read them while I was growing up!

This weekend We are taking Luna to her first dance class. I’m already imagining ballerina heaven! Also heading to Sacramento’s farm-to-fork festival.

The parenting books look like a great idea or it may be the inviting pastel cover! I’d love to hear feedback on those as well.

The mother cellphone article made me feel guilty before reading it! This week my 2.5 year old told me for the first time “put your phone away Mama.” Oh my goodness I spent the rest of the day in her play area trying to be 100% focused on her because I felt horrible. I got called out by my toddler! Its my only guilty pleasure…so don’t mind me while I finish this comment ;) Have a great weekend everyone!

Well, I love that etiquette column that I haven’t seen before. I can’t believe I got only 74% on the punctuation quiz. (I sorta disagree with one of the answers.) How fun to see you at Oil of Olay–looks interesting. I liked everything else, too. :-) BTW (am I blathering yet?), I like that strangers at restaurants and kids’ game practices talk to each other. It’s a good thing.

I love the New Yorker! Also, I was in Nordstrom’s last night and those cute shoes were all over the place!
