Toby goes to his friend’s house every Monday, and recently they carved pumpkins. They scooped out the seeds and guts and helped hold the knife very carefully while the pumpkin was carved. But then suddenly Toby realized it looked like a face and shook his head and said, “Wee-odd” (=weird). Oh, Toby, I love you, you little nut!

Shoot! I always seem to forget that carving pumpkins is supposed to be a childhood past time, my husband and I took to the pumpkins last weekend, maybe we had a little too much fun? Adorable images!

@ J+H: We’re also apartment dwellers. Last year, we carved our pumpkins and then put them in the window, facing in, with other lit candles and then turned off all the other lights and ate dinner by the light of the Jack O’ Lanterns, the candles, and the reflections of the candles in the glass. It was a big hit with our kids.
If you do carve pumpkins, though, be aware that once they’re carved, they spoil very quickly indoors. Huge mold situation. The minute Halloween is over, they are out.
