Since Toby arrived on the scene, I’ve worn a ponytail almost every day. So, in an effort to jazz things up, I was happy to come across this idea of using a piece of fabric instead of a hair tie. Simple and pretty, don’t you think?
Indeed, that is pretty. I also love the red hair – always wanted red hair!

Aloha from Maui!
I agree it reminds me of a scrunchie…I wore those in middle school and I hope they don’t come back. If you choose the right fabric so it doesn’t look like a scrunchie, though, it would be cute!
Check out the bunting I made! I think you’ll like it :)http://selfishlyhappy.blogspot.com/2010/11/craft-advent-bunting.html

I really like ponytails..There is an elegant mystery in this weaving..Its like we Knit a story..like our thoughts are expressed silently in those soft formations..
I have a dear japanese friend and every morning she would look outside the window and braid her very long hair on one side..

lovely – i’d do it but would also need a little hair tie underneath.
Really pretty. Not sure if I could pull it off…it could end up looking like one of those huge scrunchies from elementary school on me! XO Jill
Amazing! So sick of hair ties, and bows are too bulky under hats.
great idea, alex!
Yes! They are selling some pretty velvet ribbon at Anthro right now that would fit the bill beautifully.
tory burch just did a post on her blog about jazzing up the ponytail but leaving a strand of hair out of the ponytail and then wrapping it around the hairtie. I tried it last night and it looked surprisingly chic. And ps. I’ve been doing the french bun since you posted about it ages ago.
love this idea – simple way to add some pattern to an outfit.
Adorable! I love it!

For all of us with kids this is a great idea. Much better than just your regular rubber band and not dated like those scrunchies of the 80s.
pretty! reminds me of twistband, but you can use fabric you already have!
Cute :)
