This bedroom looks so cozy! I’d love to have (or make!) a patchwork quilt one day. They can brighten up an entire room and give an instant sense of history.

You do realize that “instant sense of history” is about as inauthentic as it gets, and defeats the purpose, right?
My grandmother still makes the “real” thing – hand quilted – quilts for all of our family members’ weddings, anniversaries, new babies…

I agree with you, quilts do brighten up a room! There’s just something so homey and comforting about them! Maybe it’s because they used to be hand made by grandmothers and aunts… :)

We recently switched to a quilt (my grandmother’s) for our bedroom. We absolutely love it because of the warm feeling it gives. Love this pic!
I have a quilt from my stepdad’s mother and it is the most comfortable blanket around! She sewed my name and the year into the quilt and I know I will treasure for years to come so it’s sweet to know how long I’ve had it for.

I love log cabin quilts! so easy to make and they always looked perfect. I’ve made 2 toned ones for all the daughters and granddaughters in my family, and used the scraps to make a lovely patchwork for my grandma!
I made one for a customer last year and I’ve wanted one since! Love log cabin quilts, especially when they’re all scrappy like in the picture!
I agree! This quilt is lovely. My mom and I were out thrifting on Saturday and I happened upon the most lovely quilt but the cost was over $400. Still looking though!
I love quilts especially for kids rooms – I will be soon turning my son’s nursery into a toddler boy room and a quilt would be perfect!

Joanna- I just wanted to let you know that thanks to your post yesterday, last night I had my first dream about nursing my baby-to-be :)
It was so sweet and intimate. I was sitting on a deck over the mountains, which makes no senses because I live in the midwest in the middle of fields of wheat.
Either way, thank you for that little bug in my mind and my sweet dream. I think it’s moments like that that turn women into mothers while they are pregnant.

Didn’t care much for the quilt, but I love the guitar hanging on the wall, and the beautiful dog laying on the bed. I want one just like that!

Yeah quilts are so cool…I’m actually working on a couple granny square blankets to put up in my shop soon. They’re not the same, but I still love that retro feel they give off :)

Nothing like a good old fashioned log cabin quilt! Somehow this looks current and beautiful! The guitar is cute on the wall – maybe I’ll use this idea for my 14 yr old’s new room. I’ll have to show her – she may want the puppy too!
An idea for your future quilt: I made a simple one using my daughter’s baby/toddler clothes and gave it to her as a gift when she was older. :)
My aunt has made a quilt out of all my dad’s shirts. It’s such a cozy reminder of him. :)

Patchwork quilts are so adorable; I have one my Mom bought me from New Hampshire. It’s gorgeous!
I wish we could all take a few steps back and reduce our lives to that of more simplistic terms, like this wonderful work of art. It’s still beautiful and strong and warm and supportive, but it’s simple and humble. I think quilts make the world a better place.
That style quilt is real easy to make, its called the log cabin pattern and you can make the top in a day. i did, with my sister’s help. now i just need to finish it so i can use it!

i have tried quilting but it is just TOO much for me. I don’t do well with precise measurements and symmetry and stuff. but I am making a crocheted blanket for my bed and that is coming along nicely!
Ooo, I love quilts! I have made a few for my kids, and my mom-in-law is an expert quilter (she’s won awards and stuff!). We keep many of her quilts rolled-up in baskets in all the bedrooms for extra chilly nights.
I’m also saving some of my children’s clothes to patch together into a memory quilt. I hope by the time they are grown I’ll have enough to give it to them.
Me too! I’ve always wanted to make one. I’ve been saving sraps for so long, I’m probably close to having enough. Now I just need to actually do it…. :)

I love this photo! My great grandmother, a seamstress, saved bits of all of her grandchildrens dresses and ties throughout their childhood. Out of the old clothes, she made the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen! Passed down from my mother, it’s been my favorite possesion since childhood. :)
I bought a huge patchwork quilt a few months ago. Don’t you just love that a quilt can turn a bedroom from being “just that room I rent” to “that cozy place I call home”?

The quilt is beautiful – but so is the rest of the room. I love the guitar on the wall! When I took tie-dye in high school we made patchwork quilts at the end, and mine is still on my bed. Helps me through long New England winters.
