Oh my goodness, this video of a 3-year-old reciting a gorgeous (and long!) poem is one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe he memorized the whole thing.
omg he is so cute!!!
AH. Solidly the cutest thing I’ve seen in YEARS.
oh my goodness…i have an english degree and that just made my heart swell. he is too sweet and he is reciting an incredible piece of poetry. he just kills me when he says…”but don’t worry – you are still the bread and the wine”

Oh. My. Goodness!!
You’ll also enjoy this one :) It’s amazing how this 21-month-old girl knows all the states in the US by looking at the name of their capital… I don’t know how she does that, children her age are just starting to speak!

This is utterly amazing! :)
I love this! So cute! Makes you wish you should be so lucky as to have such intelligent children. Any response from the poet himself yet?
PS. I’ve started recapping our wedding over at my own blog before I submit it at other websites. Feel free to pop by and have a gander.

a charmer indeed, love this!!!!!
so beautiful to see the poem written out, Croatian_Latina, thank you!
no way, katie! what a small world!! his mom sounds so lovely on the video.
You are the bread and the knife,
the crystal goblet and the wine.
You are the dew on the morning grass
and the burning wheel of the sun.
You are the white apron of the baker
and the marsh birds suddenly in flight.
However, you are not the wind in the orchard,
the plums on the counter,
or the house of cards.
And you are certainly not the pine-scented air.
There is just no way you are the pine-scented air.
It is possible that you are the fish under the bridge,
maybe even the pigeon on the general’s head,
but you are not even close
to being the field of cornflowers at dusk.
And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither the boots in the corner
nor the boat asleep in its boathouse.
It might interest you to know,
speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I am the sound of rain on the roof.
I also happen to be the shooting star,
the evening paper blowing down an alley,
and the basket of chestnuts on the kitchen table.
I am also the moon in the trees
and the blind woman’s tea cup.
But don’t worry, I am not the bread and the knife.
You are still the bread and the knife.
You will always be the bread and the knife,
not to mention the crystal goblet and–somehow– the wine.
I love it! the pauses he takes in between the lines..aww and his sweet voice. My congrats to the lucky parents. they have done a good job of raising him!
Now I will have to google this poem…
he actually has intonation and gusto when he recites this! this just pulls on my heart strings…
Every child has a wonderful talent (even its just making you smile on a bad day), but this sure is rare. Thanks for sharing!
He is so darn cute and so smart! His accent is adorable!
i was totally in need of a spirit lift and you came through, as always. thank you.
Wow. I’m not even sure I could memorize that…not to mention while playing with toys.
So cute:)
this is amazing, and so so cute! maybe this will be Toby in three years!
Well I know how I’ll be teaching my kids to read! Also, I loved the Highchair Critics post – as someone without kids, it truly tugged on my heart strings and was a pleasure to read!
Becca
