she is gorgeous! i used to have bangs, and i actually think i look best with them, but they are truly a pain to style. i like zero-effort hair!

ps – i really like the simple, succinct style of your blog.
I love bangs, and they suit me

I say go for it! They grow out so quickly you can easily sweep them to the side in a few weeks if you don’t like them. I’ve had mine for over 2 years, and that says a lot coming from someone who usually gets bored with their hair within 3 months! xxSAS
Wow…she is so pretty…love her bangs, but my hair is curly so that is beyond my control…
love love love this outfit!
xoxo
If I had straight hair I would do the same:)
Me too! They don’t suit me AND she makes me want them badly!
This really makes me want to grow my hair out, FAST!!! But as for bangs, I don’t think you should discount them! I was always told growing up not to even try them, they’d look awful, by my mother. Then I spent a semester abroad in Egypt, and decided to just go for it-after all, if it really did look horrible I could just don a headscarf until they grew out. Well, they turned out AMAZING! I’ve been a bangs-only girl ever since. And judging from your profile pic, I think they could look quite good on you as well!

i know i love this look
and i now know what ‘bangs’ means
but i don’t know where it comes from
etymology help?
Agreed! I love bangs but experience tells me I should not cave into the temptation!
she totally rocks the bangs!
i love bangs. I’ve tried them on my face and my face wasn’t haven it.
How in the world did such a pretty girl get “Claude” as a name?
She is rockin those bangs
Such a lovely photo. Chic bangs and a chic name!
Claude is one of my middle names and I’ve always hated it! I’m grappling at the moment with getting a fringe or not… She does look gorgeous…
xxx
I love my bangs, but it is a tad annoying having to get a fringe trim every few weeks to keep them out of my eyes… It’s worth it though :)
So pretty!!!!
dont do it!!! I love to look at bangs but every time I am tempted I hate it just like you.
sooooo step away from the scissors especially now when hormones are in play LOL
Nice hair cut though
I love her hair. I need a hair refresh, this is inspiring me.
I love bangs and it’s a good look for me, but whenever I cut them I want to grow them out asap. And of course as soon as my hair is long again, I want to go back to bangs.
Love bangs at this length, but you would have to get them trimmed every other week (at least) to keep them like that. I usually have mine cut shorter so that I don’t have to bother with them for a while.
BTW, I also love the name Claude. I’m going to add it to my name list for baby #2! :)
Gargh I want a fringe! (that’s what we call them in the UK!) I just need to pluck up the courage to get one!
i love how beautiful and thick her hair is! gorgeous! and claude?! yes please!

Oh, its ok… Even if you did get bangs at some point you would envie the little braids that are so perfect for summer! :p
It’s so funny you posted this! I LOVE my bangs, but feel like I should grow them out for my wedding. I’m just having such a hard time committing to it! They’re so fun and can really perk up a boring pony tail.
I never really looked right without bangs…tried it but something about a “weird” forehead (so I’ve been told). I have honest friends. :)
When I was younger I always wanted to be bangless. Every time I got out of the swimming pool I knew my bangs were going to go every direction but down. Now I like them. I enjoy experimenting with long bangs, or side-swept bangs, or retro short bangs. I’ve got options!
I’ve been going through this phase of wanting bangs for about a year and I can’t get over it especially when I see someone with good bangs! I don’t think I could do the bangs where I live though because it is so humid and I have very curly hair, which I rarely make straight. Oh hair.
Mmm…LOVE bangs. Just got some of my own. However, they don’t always stay…portrait-ready :)
i never was much of a bangs person myself, i think i had them when i was 8 or something. i wish i could pull them off, they are lovely :)
I love bangs. I recently took scissors to my own – my first time ever cutting hair – and though they’re not straight and a bit too short, I’ve decided it’s my “look.” :)
She’s got the most amazing hair! I feel the same way as you, everytime I see someone with bangs, I want to get them. I’ve had bangs, but it’s impossible to keep them perfect all the time.
I love the whole look too!
LOVE those bangs. I tried to rock them once… uhhhh never again :( Wish I could.
I was drawn to that girl yesterday, too. Love the bangs and the pout. I also admired that she was only 5’1 and sitting there like a 5’10 powerhouse. Awesome.
Love Claude’s bangs. I’ve done blunt bangs before and loved how they looked (yes, you can pin them back if you don’t like them initially!) and have decided I am getting bangs again in August. Why August? Well, why not?
1. I am absolutely dying to visit Berlin.
2. Claude is pretty much the coolest name for a girl. Ever.
I was last tempted to hack off bangs when I wrote about Mette Lindberg. What is it about thick, shaggy bangs that make girls look so damn cool?
I am in the middle of a constant struggle: Bangs or no bangs! This definetly puts me on the bangs side of the argument today!
After your last bangs post I was super hoping you would take the leap. But, if you know something doesn’t work then why push it? Although, every hair stylist in the world told me not to do it but I loved it!
This is a perfect example of a haircut that I adore on someone else but would loathe on myself. Claude works it like nobody’s business. And I love her sexy throwback of a name.
I finally did the nags a few months ago and I have loved them, but I think it is time for me to go back to side bangs.
I love bangs when I first get them cut, but the growing out phase is always a pain in the arse.
I hear ya. They look awful on me, but I went to Free People Austin the other day and the gal that worked there had PERFECT bangs http://www.flickr.com/photos/atasteoft/4595106065/
Isn’t she the cutest?
I love bangs, especially the way this lovely girl is wearing them! I don’t know if I could pull off blunt bangs like that, might try this winter I don’t think they would do me any favors during the hot months.
Have you ever tried side swept bangs? They tend to be pretty universally flattering, and if they don’t work out they are easy to grow out. I like to have them because I tend to throw my hair in a ponytail a lot and a side swept bang makes it look a little more done.
Cool!
ah man, more girls with bangs to be jealous of! my husband loves me with bangs but they just drive me insane and i have a weird cowlick that he refuses to recognize. oh well…
i love that this girls name is claude. love that name!
Looks darling.
Makes me want to re-trim mine since I decided to grow them out.
Hmm..
did you read his post on this girl? she’s only 5′ 1″–at first glance i thought she was the model amazon type, but upon further inspection you can tell she’s about average. it’s all in the way she carries herself.
beautiful.
Yes that lovely lady can definitely pull those off! I used ot have bangs for 4 years until I decided I wanted to see my own forehead:) Its a fun accessory though…x LZ
Does not suit me either or it means I would have to use a hair blower every single day…
But, it sure looks hot!
i think i lot of people can do bangs. it just takes the right cut. if you really want to you should go for it! bet you’re still the cutest no matter what.
love this haircut, I’ve been sporting something similar (but not as wavy, sadly) and other than some quick bang maintenance daily its super easy to keep up.
xo-elle
I had bangs until a few months ago, quite tired of it! but from time to time I still have a huge wish to take the scissors and do it again!!! always stylish and trendy!
Oooh! I love her bangs!! I too wish I could wear bangs, but my face is too boxy ;(
I did it for my 30th bday…I cut bangs…and though I’d say they suited me fine, I’m QUITE tired of them, and it’s been a real PAIN to grow them back out. Kudos to those who rock them and love them. Me? I’ll keep my forehead visible.
I’m actually about to go get my hair cut, I’m planning on getting bangs again! I haven’t had them in 2 years and I kind of miss them. ;-)
Hi! Greetings from Finland and thank you for this wonderful blog, I love reading your posts.
I wanted to ask you something if it’s okay. I’m having a graduation party in June and I’m doing invitation cards now! So I was wondering if you have any tips to websites that has creative and beautiful cards so I can have some inspiration? :) It doesen’t have to be graduation invitations, any invitations are great beacuse I can took ideas of them.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Love,
Riikka
Ditto, my mom has pushed them on me for years but they just wont happen!
ps, saw you in the new martha stewart-how awesome!!! havent seen you post much about it, hope I’m not spilling the beans…or if you’ve already mentioned it, sorry for not playing closer attention. It was such a neat surprise to see one of my fave bloggers in one of my fave magazines!
really? i could imagine you with bangs! i have side-swept right now, but i think i’m going to cut them straight across like this lady in a few weeks! a little scared…
I always thought that it doesn’t suit me but then about a year ago my new hairdresser asked if she can cut it and since then I love them!
Kisses and Claudia looks stunning!
bangs don’t suit me either…i have 2 cowlicks in front and found out the hard way. it’s nice to know i’m not the only one. when they look good though, they typically look really, really good.
OK. Cranky “old lady” here with some advice for the wanna-be-fringed. (I tried the other word in that hyphenate & whoa, not appropriate.)
My hair is very similar to above. Almost exactly. I have wavy-ish hair. There are some tricks but let me tell you one thing that helps you not to look like an idiot. Don’t let them be too short (unless you’re Karen Elson). They dry shorter.
I noticed a few hair salon visits ago that for whatever reason my bangs aren’t growing as fast as usual. I asked my stylist to leave them be & I’d drag my (big fat) rear in to have a trim when necessary. I told her that I had an event the next day & I didn’t want them to look “too fresh.” Did she know what I mean, I asked. You bet, she said.
So let them get a little long & push’em around or even wet them & dry them like above. But it only works if you let them get long enough. You also have to wear a little bit of make-up (lipstick) or something to indicate that you’re not going for the 10-year-old look.
I see someone had the Amelie look…good for her that she knows it’s time to let them grow out. I’ll bet she looks adorable either way.
I’m the one who keeps thinking I should grow mine in because of my age…so dumb. Then I immediately go look at my age cohort in France/Italy who have bangs. Then the mood passes. I look fine either way, but frankly bangs can hide a multitude of forehead sins (of which I am not the upset possessor at the moment).
ciao-meow, kids
I just saw this photograph on The Sartorialist and yes, her bangs are amazing. I’ve had bangs for the better part of my life and am a firm believer! For straight hair, they can do no wrong!
Ugh. I always wanted bangs like that. I however, was blessed with a widow’s peak and a cowlick which does not make for pretty, well-behaved bangs. Except for the early 90s when I plastered them into something that looked oddly like a bird’s nest. Thankfully those days are long gone:)
i hearts; bangs!! Claude looks super chic :)
xo
she is cute!! i absolutely love bangs and used it until last year when i decided to let them grow long…!
