Have you guys seen the new show, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution? The British chef wants to completely revamp the United States school lunch programs by serving fresh, real foods, instead of fries and chocolate milk. I watched all three episodes on Hulu this past weekend, and the show is amazing and compelling with such a great mission. (Plus, his accent and rumpled hair are completely adorable.)

Wow, nice post, there are many person searching about that now they will find enough resources by your post.Thank you for sharing to us.Please one more post about that..
Jamie is my food hero! He is loved here in the UK. We have just finished his American Food Revolution series here and I have to say how shocked I was to see all the resistance put in front of him. That Ronda woman came across as such a jobsworth with her moaning about how a chicken burger and fries satisfies a nutritional balance more that a seven vegetable pasta sauce. I wanted to scream at the television!
It was very touching to see how he changed some peoples lives and their attitude to food. I hope Jamie makes as much of an impact in the States as he has here in the UK
Keeping my fingers crossed that his revolution is a success. And in the meantime, a enjoying watching him (after all he’s cute, he’s got that accent AND he cooks!)
Hmmmm, could it be that the seeds for your next passion/career have been planted? Take your lovely, accessable and intelligent writing, combine it with the passion of parenthood, you could partner with Jamie to revolutionize our children’s eating!
Oh yes, who doesn’t love Jamie Oliver and his show! I am a big fan right from the beginning and I’ve used so many recipes from Jamie that I can’t even count them. He’s the best!
I love this show. I’m so happy to see someone using reality tv for a good cause. I work in public health and prevention is key! Seriously, pizza for breakfast?! Go Jamie Oliver!

Now I’m completely addicted! He is just fantastic. I just made it thru the first episode; I hate how rude the people are to him! I’m from the South and I definitely know how hard headed Southerners can be. Hope he keeps his head up! I love what he’s doing!
What he and this show are doing is so admirable. I really hope the healthy food fever spreads. Jamie Oliver IS adorable. I used to watch The Naked Chef and drool over both he and the food. I daydreamed of being one of this dinner party guests.
I just watched a couple episodes on HULU last night too and was so sad to see the scene where the kids weren’t able to identify ANY of those vegetables! ARGHHHHH
Can’t wait to see if he’s able to accomplish REAL change.
Yes, Jamie rocks! He’s had a tremendous influence here in the uk on the way we look at food and apart from that he is a lovely down to earth boy! Plus all his recipes WORK!
I’ve been watching it as well. It really is inspiring. I’ve been making a lot of his recipes lately from his Food Revolution book. They have all been delicious. Didn’t your heart just tear to pieces from the last episode when the bigger girl said that the dr. found spots on her liver and was told she only had about 7 years to live. I cried my eyes out.
If you feel inspired by Jamie’s campaign, he has created an online petition, promoting healthy food for children, that he will present to the White House. You can find the petition here: http://www.jamiesfoodrevolution.com/petition. Pass it along!
I adore him and his big, patient heart! The show is really eye-opening – I can hardly believe some of the things that come out of the Director of Food Services’ mouth! He’s educating a LOT of people and it’s about time!
I’m a Brit and Jamie did a similar thing with school dinners here- it was a massive campaign and got as far as the prime minister commenting. I love Jamie’s attitude with these projects and his fifteen projects to train up kids from poor backgrounds to be chefs he really does different things to other chefs. Great guy!
i’m a huge fan of jamie oliver! i’m actually in london right now and have been dying to try his new restaurant, jamie’s italian. i waiting to head back to the states and watch the show.
INCREDIBLE! honestly, the most attractive thing about him is his love and concern for children. it is despicable how adults are failing the youth in this nation… all it takes is a little more education in diet and fitness!
Love Love Love him! He is so inspiring. The “Bunny” just brought me another of his cookbooks. I hope he can somehow get Americans to take his message and run with it!
For years I’ve loved Jamie and his wife Jools. I think it’s so important the work he has been doing in schools. All his shows are fab and his recipes are so doable and tasty. My favourite of his shows is Jamie at Home because I love his gardener and the peek into his weekender and all his lovely recipes. Fab Jamie. xx
i love how he is inspiring america. this is the way we’re supposed to eat… he’s changing these kid’s futures and i respect him so much for that. he is fabulous!
I absolutely LOVE the show! I’m hooked and completely agree that America not only needs to change the way children eat their school lunches, but also the way American’s eat in general.
I’m from the UK originally so was familiar with Jamie’s cooking style before moving out here to the US. I love his recipies and think the work he’s doing over here is amazing.
I almost fell off my chair when the school said that fries counted as a vegetable!!!
i’m so glad you wrote about this–it really is such a great thing he’s doing. the most important thing to take away from it all is the emphasis on real foods as the means to health (not calories or things in that realm).
I LOVE this show! Not only is Jamie just the most adorable thing ever (um, hello British accent) but what he’s doing is much needed. I’m behind on an episode or two and can’t wait to catch up! :)

Yeah for Jamie Oliver!! This is such an important issue and shocking to see what kids are fed in school. My mouth dropped when I heard that greasy french fries were considered a vegetable!! Are you kidding me? Our government really needs to take an active position in changing the food guidelines for our schools. This is especially personal to me as I grew up in Huntington and still have family there. The elementary school where alot of this show was shot is definetly a lower income area and most of these kids probably get the bulk of their food from school meals. If their not taught healthy eating habits at school it will never translate as they grow up. I hope that parents choose to get active in their communities and question these “guidelines” that are hurting our children.
Yes – I did watch this week’s episode and was also amazed at his plight. I’m all about nutrition and health and I think that processed foods should be outlawed!
I can’t wait to go back and watch the episodes that I missed.
Yay! Glad to see someone else standing up for nutrition in our schools.
Alice Waters has been spearheading this movement for years but it has been slow to gain momentum. Check out the website for the edible schoolyard in my old school district. In addition her foundation has allowed Berkeley Unified to provide a wonderful lunch program serving fruits, salads and balanced meals.
we watched the two episodes available on hulu the other day and i was incredibly impressed. he’s trying to bring to the u.s. something we should have been doing for a long time ourselves. brave for him!
It broke my heart when that high schooler said her father died of obesity. I am so happy to see that food culture is finally getting the attention it deserves!
Isn’t he fantastic? I work for one of his companies in the UK, Jamie At Home, think tupperware parties but gorgeous kitchen and home products!! He is so passionate about everything he does and I have know idea how he crams everything into his life and still remains so normal and down to earth! I lucky enough to be at a jamie at home event last year and he was there and so inspirational! So pleased you are spreading his good word! Congratulations on your pregnancy, how did I miss that lol! Claire xx
Yes! I am SO thrilled the show is doing so well, especially considering the issues he brings to light (kids not knowing what a tomato is… whaaat???) This is a movement I can surely get behind :)
I’m in love with the show and I’ve started trying more of Jaime’s recipes at home. In the past, I had trouble with the conversions but now he has US versions on his site -everything I’ve made has turned out great!
I truly support his mission and I hope he’s successful.
I truly hope he makes a difference, many of the AMericans he encounters on the show are such skeptics (like the lunch lady). Just get on board, it’s good for your children!!
I saw the premier and was so amazed at his courage and people’s reactions!! Why do some resist embracing healthier habits for their kids? what an amazing mission he’s taken on
i love it too. i am a teacher, so it hits close to home. and in response to some of the commenters, yes, healthy eating habits should start at home. but, for MANY children their only meal comes from school. even though there may not be that support at home {for a variety of reasons} every child still has the right to healthy, high-quality food.
will you post a link for your readers to sign his petition? thanks, joanna!
I think he’s doing a really great thing. I watched the UK version of the show and loved it. I’m glad to see there has been good results and hopefully he can bring about change here in North America.
I almost cried during the last episode when the kids came out to speak after the meal. It’s very sad that young kids have to go through these things. Something needs to be done to change the situation. Good job Jamie!
And congrats on 10,000 followers! Love your blog so much!
I need to hulu this STAT! I’m so glad somebody is out and speaking about this. I hope this project really expands and we start seeing some reform in school meals. I used to bypass the food all together when I was in high school. At 16 I even knew that hamburgers and cardboard pizza were unacceptable.
Fantastic show! Also loved his TED talk about the subject, so compelling. I couldn’t believe last week’s episode where they showed how french fries counted as a vegetable!
I agree. It is amazing to see the change that is happening in just the first three episodes, especially considering the resistance he has received. I was totally shocked when he went into the grade on class and they didn’t even know what a potato was.
BTW, Jamie is on Twitter & is asking people for signatures on a petition….go there or to his website. And why he’s not on some dumb show on those awful food networks (do I sound annoyed? My sister is a chef & she swears Food Network has destroyed her life’s work…people, it’s NOT entertainment). OK. phew. Anyway, I saw someone wrote: what’s wrong with people? the resistance? I really emphasize the following: many people (including readers here) are laughing & making fun of folks in that part of the country. They have been the source of much joking & nasty comments forever. You’d be defensive too if you were poor, didn’t have much (or any) access to decent, wholesome, and AFFORDABLE food, & people shove your face in it. Jamie isn’t doing that & that’s why eventually the folks in the town accepted him.
But of course, we love him. Have had his cookbooks from the beginning (though I do not get cable…ugh). I’ve seen the show, & even in the overwrought reality type show that seems to be the only way to get the attention of fellow Americans, it’s pretty good. I followed the story back when it was shooting. One problem: many in media, blogs, etc. are laughing at Appalachian folks & it really steams me. Even in fairly skinny DC (yes, look at the stats) & NYC, I see plenty of big ol’ behinds & bad eating.
As Jamie & others, including your own doctor probably) point out …it matters not if you are thin or normal weight. If you eat junk, garbage, you will get sick even if you don’t gain the weight. Some of the unhealthiest people I know are in normal weight range.
