I felt weirdly sad last night, for no real reason. (Does that ever happen to you?) I couldn’t figure out why. So, I’m going to post pretty things all day, starting with this cute little piglet, photographed by Sharon Montrose.

Oh my god, there’s a lot of worthwhile info here!
how can someone elaborate a topic without any effort…. ilike your style of writing its classy unitech crestview
I really agree with the facts that you have shared on this post. An interesting topic like this really enhances reader’s mind to have more effective decisions over a certain issue.

Aww this is so sweet, it reminds me of when my adorable little piggy was just a piglet. they are such lovely pets.
Cute piglet.
Maybe its the winter making you sad…
I get these little waves of sadness too from time to time but I suffer from seasonal affective disorder so to ride the winter and be a happy bunny, I’ve got a special light against SAD on my desk. The light projects white light that is supposed to give you the same light you get from natural light. You just need to switch it on for about 15 min..
nath, that is so funny! and looking up is a great tip. thakn you SO much for all these wonderful (and bolstering) comments!!!!!
You should smile and be happy because you just made a ton of other people smile and happy by posting this little piggy! thank you!
You’re not alone — and thank you for the pretties all day long!
Hope it helped!
I do believe it happens to all of us! Maybe females more so, it happens to me at least weekly..living overseas and all, it can be quite tough! Loving the pig, very babe-esque!
that happens to me too. without any rhyme or reason, and i just hate it. hope your sadness has subsided. this piglet is too cute for words!
He’s so sweet – sure to cure any bits of sadness or blues! :)
Thanks for all the pretty posts. I’ve been in a weirdly sad funk all week and they helped.
I felt wierdly, terribly sad last night too! But today, cheered up just fine. I bought 2 of her prints a few weeks ago for my new husband, they’re really sweet!
It’s smiling!! Adorable. Love it!
oh. sorry to hear that, Jo. we all feel blue some days. but a piglet is a good way to look up.
and actually that’s my tip – look up. i read somewhere ages ago that people tend not to look up much/at all, but those who did felt a spontaneous upturn in mood. or something. like i said it was ages ago. but it’s worth a try right? cheaper than new shoes.
and whoo! comment number 64! *punches air triumphantly*
and no way – i’m not shitting you – my word verification? is….
LAUGH
!!
it is.
for real.
Oh man…I hate the random blues…I’m getting them a lot right now that I’m on fertility drugs. =(
I hope you feel better today, Joanna! This little piggie TOTALLY made me smile! xo
Ahhh…reminds me of one of my favorite movies, BABE!
Your hubby cracks me up! Buddy Holly? How can you be sad with such a funny man in the house? Hope that you are having a better day!
I’m feeling the same way today. But your blog is giving me warm fuzzies…
Damn hormones…
my family calls it free-floating sadness (or anxiety, as it can sometimes be). I hope it lifts! Think of this cute little piglet nudging your knee!
I love the sweet little pig. And I hope you’re feeling better soon Joanna. xoxo
I definitely agree about the post-wedding thing. There were a few times I would find myself in an odd sad/emotionless state that didn’t actually mean I was sad, it was more because I was so used to having this big event on my mind and suddenly I didn’t have another to-do list or something huge to plan…or it could just be a funk where chocolate is indeed needed.
I agree with cupcakes. I always get really sad before the “being a girl” cycle starts all over again.
I’m been feeling sad and overwhelmed for a myriad of reasons today. The piggy is awfully cute, though. Makes me want to watch Babe…now there’s a feel-good movie!
It’s probably just mild depression. Everyone experiences it. Nothing that a couple of ‘mommy’s little helpers’ and stiff cocktail can’t solve.
Carry on.
bucky will cure anyone’s sadness. he’s now my laptop wallpaper for my silly grin every morning.

these comments are so lovely and wonderful, thank you!!!!!! i love you guys so much!!!
That totally happens to me, and when I try to explain it I get frustrated so I end up blaming it on PMS.
Oh dear, I am sorry you have the blues. The change of seasons seems to always make me feel a little nostalgic pensive for a time. When I’m feeling down, I read a children’s book that I’ve already read before. In the past few years I re-read some of the Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter books while snuggled up under my favorite comfortor. I also recommend enjoying these books with a hot cup of tea and one of those chocolate oranges you whack into pieces.
Hmmm, it could definitely be due to the change in season, for me when I start feeling generally down it’s usually a case of generally wanting things I don’t have (more in the way of a lifestyle than just material things).
Maybe this is just how it is for me, but I think the odd bout of life envy can be inevitable if you’re a blogger, as so many people portray perfect seeming lives. Even if they’re not always that way on the inside! Hope the cute pig is cheering you up anyway. faye x
I love Sharon Montrose’s photos. And there’s nothing sweeter than a pig’s smile!
How odd, I was feeling sad last night as well. It happens. Our emotions as females seem to be like a roller coaster ride sometimes. I went on youtube and watched Wanda Sykes to cheer me up :)
When I get the sads I love to watch “Amelie” again. Or just listen to the soundtrack and working on some crafts helps too. Keeping your hands busy with something handmade is very restorative.
I think it’s the time of year and weather change – i get a little bit melancholy around this time too…like Jessica said above, dark chocolate definitely helps with the mood swings…that and a nice cappaccino, a good romcom, and on and on….:) Have a good day!
sometimes if i can’t snap out of the sads, i embrace it (put on an endearing movie, bundle up in a blanket with some tea & have a good cry). it is good to welcome other emotions sometimes, but usually i can’t handle sad and instead turn on all the lights in the apartment, play fun girl music really loud and meet up with my friends (who always help).

what an adorable piglet…sometimes it does help to just take the time to think about the beautiful things in life…hope you feel better soon!
I wasn’t sad before, but zoo animals make me sad. So now… sad :(
That is the sweetest little piglet ever!! his personality is beaming in the photograph. adorable.
I feel like those random feelings of sadness definitely happen more for me in the fall and winter as I find it hard to be sad when the sun is shining :)
the weirdly sad thing happens to me all the time! sometimes it even gets to the “crying at inappropriate times and places” level. it can be pretty frustrating, but i guess it’s just part of being a girl…
p.s. i love piglets!!
i’m pretty sure that’s just part of being a girl (since my boyfriend never seems to experience random bouts of sandness). thank you for this lovely little guy…can’t wait to see more!

dpeneding on the type of sad, i:
a. clean my bathroom or
b. watch chick flicks and cry myself to sleep or
c. spoon with boyfriend or
d. all of the above…
i felt that way earlier this week, until yesterday, when the sun came out here for the first time in days. that made all the difference.
also, yesterday i was so chipper & pleasant with everyone around me (i gave out so many compliments that it was ridiculous, really). that, too, made the biggest difference because everyone around me was happy, which was infectious! but, pretty things help, too! ESPECIALLY anything by Montrose!
aw. i love that piglet.
Fall blues? I usually immerse myself in some activity like cleaning up that closet that I put off since forever. But keep I checking out what’s new in the web so thanks for the pigie.

I kept feeling anxious inside yday
fairy lights and dark chocolate, all great ideas :) and Prippy Handbook, i’m going to walk over to the french bulldogs today!!!
keeping dark chocolate in my desk drawer helps with my sad swings.
xo
Cute pic!
All the time…since a child. I fight it with a variety of things. Today I am losing the battle but cute cat pix (& your piglet) will help. Turned on fairy lights this a.m. instead of waiting for evening.

i know the feeling…this little piggy is just darling :) It’s actually smiling!
Hmm that definitely happens to me – it’s actually how I’ve been feeling this week!
Thanks for making my morning brighter with the little piglet :)
hi joanna,
sometimes “the sads” happen just after you get married. it’s normal. after all the preparation, hype, honeymooning, excitement, etc, you’re back in you’re regular life. even as great as your real life is, you’re bound to feel a little down once in a while. the anticipation of the big event is over. everyone has a sad day here and there – but then you appreciate the happy ones even more. (re: “Ode to Melancholy, Keats)
I definitely think the diminished daylight can cause the blues. But think of it this way – more time to kiss your hubby under softly lit streetlamps!
Yeah, the winter blues. The clocks changed in London last week, it’s dark when I cycle home now. I’ve felt blue all week!
Feel better. :)
I felt the same way last night! You’re definitely not the only one. I also recommend French Bulldog puppies. When I would feel bad while I was living in the West Village, I had the routine of going to Greenwich Letterpress and then walking past the puppies in the windows on Christopher Street. It seriously cures any case of the blues!
It happens to me all the time!
I want to scratch his little chinny-chin-chin!
For me, looking at my wedding photos is instant happiness. :) Also exercise helps!
I thin the blues come with the change of seasons.
you should watch this-

you won’t be able to stop smiling.
Awww, feel better!! The piglet is a great start to a pretty posting day!
That is the cutest pig I’ve ever seen! Thanks for posting!
hi joanna,
i totally hear you. for me, i’m not sure if it’s due to the changing weather and lessened daylight or if that just makes it feel worse. i like your proposed piglet (and other pretty things) solution! i also recommend, if you don’t already own it, investing in mamma mia on dvd and putting this on when the sadness sets in. for me, its the cinematic version of happy pills :-)
hope your week gets happier! x
an attack of the sads — i like that expression :) thank you for these sweet comments and suggestions!!!!
I felt that way a few weeks ago and attributed it to Seasonal Affective Disorder, given the gloomy grey days and lack of sunshine. I’ve been taking Vitamin D and Omega 3 supplements and feel much better.
*give it a thought. i mean. jeeeeesh. need sun. :)xxoo
